Even after countless controversies that would've been nuclear death blows for any other artist, he still moves the needle. You can argue back and forth about quality and cohesiveness all you want, but at the end of the day, he stills creates experiences that people are enamored by and want to be a part of.
I think it's partly the confidence, the energy, what he represents (defying the odds and the social conditioning) and the fact that the "new generation has failed dramatically to catch the torch, so he is the one to still push the envelope forward within the mainstream
everything is safe stable boring and corporate. Even when he goes insane and in a horrendous direction, it's still the only alternative we got in a bland world, that can make you feel something
and the youth feel completely left out of a system that actively tells them they do not matter yet they should be obedient and fall in line
it's quite obvious why they'd love Ye and what he represents, and are able to look past the things he's done and said

It is interesting that when I meet new people and tell them I like ye I always try caveat like āJUST THE MUSIC THO LIKE I KNOW HE WENT CRAZY AHAā and genuinely 80% could not give less of a s*** what he did

I think it being listed as "Ye, Kanye West" on streaming services is a bad idea. Regular people see albums with two listed artists and have some subconcious aversion to listening for whatever reason, they always do worse numbers
That being said, Vultures 1 did well. I think people will tune in for his solo return, especially after seeing the positive reception. I don't think it's gonna sell 200K+ or anything, but I think it'll do well enough.
