Of course that's part of it, but I also think despite the fact that he's objectively become a worse rapper (generally weaker delivery the biggest change), kids who didn't even grow up listening to the old s*** are still drawn to his new (and old) music
Even after countless controversies that would've been nuclear death blows for any other artist, he still moves the needle. You can argue back and forth about quality and cohesiveness all you want, but at the end of the day, he stills creates experiences that people are enamored by and want to be a part of.
I think it's partly the confidence, the energy, what he represents (defying the odds and the social conditioning) and the fact that the "new generation has failed dramatically to catch the torch, so he is the one to still push the envelope forward within the mainstream
everything is safe stable boring and corporate. Even when he goes insane and in a horrendous direction, it's still the only alternative we got in a bland world, that can make you feel something
and the youth feel completely left out of a system that actively tells them they do not matter yet they should be obedient and fall in line
it's quite obvious why they'd love Ye and what he represents, and are able to look past the things he's done and said

he still got it
800k
The tracklist tweet got 238k likes
They all listen to it 3 times
Profit
It is interesting that when I meet new people and tell them I like ye I always try caveat like āJUST THE MUSIC THO LIKE I KNOW HE WENT CRAZY AHAā and genuinely 80% could not give less of a s*** what he did
We thinking he still moves the needle outside our algorithms? Iām very curious what first week numbers will look like for this
I think it being listed as "Ye, Kanye West" on streaming services is a bad idea. Regular people see albums with two listed artists and have some subconcious aversion to listening for whatever reason, they always do worse numbers
That being said, Vultures 1 did well. I think people will tune in for his solo return, especially after seeing the positive reception. I don't think it's gonna sell 200K+ or anything, but I think it'll do well enough.
Anyone got full link to stream?
Yeah, I'm sipping a Vodka and Gatorade to this s*** rn, this s*** HOT

7 in the morning Ralph? beast mode

No one cares
Ye has moved beyond sales. Some of his biggest songs from this decade are not even on streaming

Biltures was after āthe incidentā but then I feel like āthe incidentā after that was way way worse idk
But he did also call himself an antisemite on the outro
20 years ago every verse was good, now he might have a couple whatever verses and some that are more playful and abstract, but he still has great verses often :)

If its genuinely a good album it will spread. Even if isnt in the first week but with time

yep
measuring his cultural impact on first week sales is silly
he's way beyond that
