right, I love College Dropout 2: Electric Boogaloo & CD3
Yup, I just call em Late Registration and Graduation. But you do you man.

why liken these completely self defined albums to Donda 2 situation ..which was recorded in the same “album bootcamp” style as Donda within months of its release and is literally named ‘Donda 2’?
Time between Ye Albums:
College Dropout - LR: 567 days
Late Registration - GRAD: 742 days
Graduation - 808s: 440 days
808s - MBDTF: 728 days
MBDTF - Yeezus: 939 days
Yeezus - TLOP: 971 days
TLOP - Ye: 838 days
Ye - JIK: 511 days
JIK - Donda: 674 days
Donda - TODAY: 702 So far
That's crazy. The waits never felt this long

He planned them as an education themed quadrilogy with Good Ass Job as the 4th one. He mentioned it in one of his interviews.
It's like saying the new Spidey trilogy were all standalone just cause they didn't have 2,3 in the titles.
Plus there was like a year long gap between TCD and LR and both share a lot of the same features.
LR and Grad use some of his old demos from pre TCD days as well.

TLOP - Ye wait def felt way longer.
Specially with all the inactivity.
There have been plenty of leaks and features and cool demos post-Donda.

I used to be of that opinion but idk.
Thinking back, the changes to TLOP + tour ate up most of 2016, and then once Sacramento happened most people expected and accepted that nothing would be happening for a while. I guess the whole TG16 thing lingered for some people but idk.
Ye to JIK and JIK to DONDA felt like much longer waits than they actually were imo given how stop/start he was with announcing albums. then not releasing them, going quiet for months, popping back up with some controversy, then going quiet again, etc. that cycle was draining.

it’s not when those films literally depend on continuity, while aside from CD, LR every album is the equivalent of pivoting genres in film but I didn’t know the quadrilogy stuff though so I guess you’re right

I'd say the JIK-Donda wait too tbh. JIK was quite short, not many features, the Yandhi leaks started to dry up, plus he blueballed us with Donda 2020 and we just had the tracklist and snippets for it until the album dropped.

Between Yeezus and TLOP he went on a huge tour, did a full festival run, dropped a bunch of loosies, had tons of features, did loads of interviews/live performances and debuted Yeezy.
He had something going on almost every day, was the most visible he's ever been. I'd genuinely make the argument that the period of time between Yeezus and TLOP is a top 3 Ye era.

it was a good era, but the thirst for a new album was peak at the time (id argue donda topped that)

Hollywood Bowl

Yeah and ngl a lot of times that overshadowed everything because we tied most of what he did post-tour to the hope of getting new music. If he was performing at an awards show, we expected new music. If he was performing a festival, we hoped he'd debut a new song. If he gave an interview we wanted him to only talk about the album. As a result a lot of that era ended up being underappreciated.
But man were we eating good

nah man all i remember was that 2014-16 era where the only new songs we had were only one and all day
it was a drought

bro you crazy the drought was so bad people were hyped for a theo london album

If people were that thirsty for a Theo London album before the "drought" had even really started, that's a them problem imo.

Definitely very nostalgic, lots of mystique surrounding his new album which made it cool too
Random listening sessions, random snippets, him discussing new music to GQ, etc.
i joined og ktt in summer 2014 when i was hyped for the yeezus followup
i worked overnight security and will never forget the 6 months of threads for the snippet of all day bc everyone was so thirsty for news
that only one thread on nye is goated too
Sheeeeesh, same for me bro
I found the site cause i searched “Kanye all day song release” on google
Will never forget joining, asking if the song is out yet, and a s*** ton of people quoting me with false info and i believed them
Ye section was jumping day in and day out for a year and a half

didnt get 5 leaks every day of the week like we do now as well
muffled 15 second phone recordings of one song while the guy whos listening is watching the world cup in the background was enough for 9 months of speculation
that yeezus to tlop wait was the worst one

I agree yeezus to tlop felt longest (i mean it technically was too) just because I was at the height of my kanye stannery and also spanned from my junior year in hs to my sophomore year in college (i changed a lot in that time)
