Unbreakable! Itās really dark & super f***ing good, Quentin thought the tagline shouldāve been āWhat if Superman was here on Earth, and didn't know he was Superman?ā

Argued for probably a decade or so the best comic book movie of all time. Had to acquiesce at some point--but it's a classic and argue for it quite often irl.
Talking Sopranos just had a major spoiler
:vlosereave:
i 100% agree with that, you are so real
it gives me chills just thinking about the film, just incredibly well done & captures the āin real life superheroā theme perfectly. The comic books in SLJās collection are too f***ing cool, all those scenes with him are A1

I'm bout to rewatch tonight now after this. SLJ's flashbacks. I still remember going
at that end because I was a kid and didn't know the obvious foreshadowing. It was a movie that both celebrated and deconstructed the myth of the superhero, with an intense focus on how a superhero first reacts in perhaps the most realistic portrayal (as it didn't need to sell a comic book series or movie universe as part of its construction). I never was an actual comic book person until perhaps Man of Steel more than a decade later, partially to study the pivotal physical comicbook moments as the MCU had hit full steam at that point in the theaters and I lived across the street from the theater (50 shades of grey in the theaters at midnight with fifteen 20-30 year old women was a wild experience, let me say). Still think fondly of how I loved Unbreakable as a ute, then loved it even more in my college years, and appreciate it even more in my adult life as it's a self-contained homage to a genre and medium that can only be done by independent and small companies (I could see this coming movie coming out now from A24 circa 2017-23, but not sure any company now that I'd trust with the premise).

This was the best way to put it man, really well worded & you are exactly right. Just such a great, self contained homage that could golds up extremely well & feels like it could be done by a film company like A24. So well put
Bro Iām ngl that stairway fall scene still f***s me up to this day
