Impossible task, i can't even make a fav of the decades list without mentioning at least 50-100 and i still feel like im leaving out classics

I can give you a bunch of directors that represent my personal taste though (and my personal fav films by them)

    • David Lynch (Mulholland Drive/Twin Peaks S3)
    • Wong Kar Wai (Fallen Angels/Happy Together)
    • Takashi Miike (Ichi The Killer/Gozu)
    • Gaspar Noé (Enter The Void/Climax)
    • Alejandro Jodorowsky (The Holy Mountain/Dance Of Reality)
    • Stanley Kubrick (2001/Clockwork Orange)
    • Shinya Tsukamoto (Tokyo Fist/Bullet Ballet)
    • Andrzej Zulawski (On The Silver Globe/Possession)
    • Martin Scorsese (Goodfellas/Casino)
    • Philippe Grandrieux (La Vie Nouvelle/Despite The Night)
    • Terrence Malick (Tree Of Life/Knight Of Cups)
    • Panos Cosmatos (Mandy/Beyond The Black Rainbow)
    • Jonathan Glazer (Sexy Beast/Under The Skin)
    • NWR (Only God Forgives/TOTDY)
    • Claire Denis (Beau Travail/High Life)

Some other favorite films not made by any director listed above are City Of God, La Haine, Brazil, Battle Royale etc etc

Expecting much from Julia Ducornau & Robert Eggers in terms of recently started auteur directors

QT a real one for graciously explaining ye’s embellishment of the truth (while not crucifying him for lying which I’m sure Kimmel was dying for)

  • Oct 28, 2022

Interesting… Quentin said Kanye’s plan for college dropout was to have a film by a different director for each track would’ve been the greatest visual album of all time
