not saying you're wrong at all regarding the hype and status aspect, but hype and status fuels a lot of similar industries in fashion, jewelry, cars, conventional art, etc. etc. and those things basically continue to thrive. so, it seems to serve a human condition of wanting to have something exclusive. unless society progresses beyond this, i don't see it necessarily going away.
Those things remain materially enticing for aesthetic reasons at minimum, and the jewelry industry is rapidly dying regardless. NFTs have absolutely nothing going for them

Do you think music is valuable?
Imagine getting married and your wife is being f***ed by everyone in town but you're different because you have the marriage certificate, that's the NFT.

I posted it last year in crypto thread lol, was a meme pic on Facebook or something
Man Ye doesn't know NFTs like that he's just repeating some s*** Elon Musk told him
The fact that Ye mentioning NFTs is what y'all took from that clip and decide to focus on is very telling...
Back on topic though, nfts would make a great medium for both the paparazzi and the celebrity to make profit from the image, instead of it being unfairly one-sided. Not to mention the possibilities of sharing the wealth with fans (or other entities) owning and selling the most prized candid shots and receiving royalties for doing so

I’ll re-post what someone else said and you can respond to what you want
i don't see these arguments people are making get directed toward any other tradable collectible in the physical space, we spend a majority of our times online - how are digital collectibles any different? and the environmental concerns have already been disproven
there is just so much overgeneralization and misinformation in this video, he talks about the rich getting richer and does not mention once how nft's have changed many many average lives - mine included
this guy starts talking about DAO's and does not mention one positive thing they've done thus far or the potential use cases they have, but instead brings up everything wrong with them and then just points to "the dao" - which we all know ended up ending badly
this guy is biased towards hating on crypto. you have to be aware of these people - the urge to hate on crypto, and especially nft's, is strong right now
nft's are a buzzword , so its cool to hate on it i suppose. we see this trend with every burgeoning technology, especially ones where people are making obscene amounts of money from it

I agree, I really do. But I just think people with money are allured by the concept of hype. So as long as that's in the human thought process, it will have a market or something similar will replace it imo.
rich famous people (Kanye) make a profit off of selling this pyramid scheme to their fans who eat up anything they say
Kanye sucks so much man, it’s unbearable for me to hear him talk at this point
Nobody cares
