As an audio engineer and AI enthusiast, you can hear almost right away the character of Ye’s RVC voice model. Not even getting into the artifacts talk, it’s just obvious when it’s being used and when it’s not if you ever actually worked with the RVC model before, and you have the ear for that.

With that being said, Beauty and the Beast is not AI

This life long debate of "is it really him singing or a voice filter" will occur for many artist then it becomes at the root do you like the song or art at all whether its genuine or not do they like the sounds of the music and I genuinely have no f***ing idea because they dont talk about the music or lyrics just whether its ai or not

Likely fake.
Gambino has been working on AI stuff for a year so he had access to better models and his one sounded better than the models Ye uses.
Plus the writing of the verse was off.
And that whole radio show was littered with fake AI monologues and stuff

Whats there to discuss if it's AI. If I press play on a Ye album I'm expecting to hear Ye performing the song not some random weedcarrier with a dumb voice filter.
How am I supposed to care about the writing when the verse just straight up sounds ass due to the uncanny weird voice rapping it.
Sure the beat may be good but it's not the only part of the song that matters.
I've considered Ye a rapper/singer as much as a producer. If he's not gonna do the former and have some computer software do it then my interest in the song tanks.

I think there's a lot to discuss, starting with intention. And nobody is discussing why he's doing this beyond accusations of laziness.

Has he done anything interesting with it yet? Not particularly, though I do think Vultures 2 is meant as a rebuttal to the era of fan entitlement, evidenced in the instances of AI and the appearance of a song like 5:30.

But I'm downright shocked that all discussion is reductively limited to whether it is or isn't AI and how if it's AI it's automatically bad, when Ye has the reputation of a groundbreaking artist. I'm more interesting in why he is doing it and how it might tie into the concept of the album he is working on. It seems like a lot of people will automatically dismiss it without a second thought.

I believe that adding AI to grails as a f*** you theory is major cope theory considering he's used it on his recent music too, not just old unfinished songs. Ruining your own songs as a f*** you to fans is outright dumb and shows how little you care about your music.

There is nothing creative about his usage of it, it's being used as a replacement of him rather than an actual tool like autotune which enhances ones vocals. We legit know that writers' reference vocals are being ran through a filter to mimic Ye. What possibly could be the reason to do this apart from laziness. What am I getting out of it as someone who enjoys listening to Ye rapping. Its not his writing, neither his performance, both things I highly value. The former had been steadily decreasing across projects throughout the years but if I can't even listen to the latter then what's even the point of listening to this music. I'd rather he'd just listen to his OG haters from TCD days at this point and stick to beats then.

His reputation doesn't excuse him of criticism. The Vultures 2 songs are out, there's really no concept to the AI usage. Thinking it's just due to laziness is the obvious conclusion. We'll see what happens for Bully, I'm cautiously optimistic for it. If he has something actually creative with regards to AI then I'll keep my ears open but if it's just used like it was for Vultures 2 then I have little interest in that.

And obviously, the AI is just not good enough at all. It exists in a weird uncanny valley where it's obviously supposed to be like Ye but at the same time isn't (and at sometimes it's nowhere close). As someone who listens to Ye a lot I can tell when it sounds like a soulless computer algorithm producing these sounds and I just don't feel anything on listening that.
