I'm fr not trying to be rude but you sound young and like you need life experience. can't hold that against you.

9-5 is A LOT better than some of the other options and if you have a set schedule 9-5 M-F you're lucky af especially if uneducated

9-5 M-F gives you time to plan for hobbies, or to venture into other things over the weekend - s*** that makes you happy.

like would you rather 9-5 or work a s***ty retail job where you go in at 2 and get off at 11pm? and then the next day go in at 10 and leave at 7. no set schedule, working weekends, etc.

you could start a business, but if you're asking this question you probably aren't cut out for running a successful business bc that s*** is hard and most people fail numerous times.

When people say 9-5 most of the time they just referring to a job they don't care about, they don't literally mean working 9 to 5

Why do people always defer to start a business as an answer lol that sh*t is even more stressful when you could be comfortable working at the expense of another man's dime and roof

bro fr I've seen a good friend start the foundation of his successful business..he NEVER had free time and was working deadss like 70 hours a week.

he got that s*** off the ground now and is now working the "typical 9-5" within his own business, but to get it to this point took like 4 years of blood, sweat, and tears

these people want money or a successful business with 0 work ethic lmao

working = money = freedom to live how you'd prefer

    or be a bum

edit: you changed the title. of course you dont HAVE to commit to a 9-5

funny how this turns into people having less freedom because they are a slave to working for good money with no time to enjoy the fruits of their labor
and no being 65 years old with money to retire is a scam 😂 You now out of touch, no energy, and fragile. Who agreed to this s***

Entry level jobs don't really pay bills anymore for a lot of the country. Also our generation thinks a lot more about work-life balance than previous ones

Yeah fair enough we live in a different world now. But at the same time, which generation DIDN’T have to deal with a totally different economy than their parents? I think we just complain too much.

What other choice do you have? There’s literally no other option besides starting your own business and most people have no desire to do that.

Well the point is there barely is a choice for most, you may find that person who talks about how that job they have is very easy on their work life balance and make enough to do luxurious things but your interest may not align with that at all

Im def not one for just sitting and complaining while doing nothing to change your situation but I think the narrative that the majority of people in our generation are just lazy and it has nothing to do with anything else is just wrong.

You may meet a few people who have great work life balance and get compensated greatly at the same time. But those careers are very selective. Not many would be interested.

Ohhhh okay. Yeah I mean you would be surprised. Unless you’re trying to get like $100,000 a year in your first five years or something like that there is plenty of profitable careers out there that the average person might find interesting. You just have to have the determination to do your research and relentlessly seek them out.

I never said this generation is lazy I just said we complain too much. I mean I was literally just arguing with some guy on here about how much servers get paid.

I said that if he doesn’t like it he can literally just pick a different job or career and he refused to accept that. It’s like people today don’t want to take responsibility for their own lives because blaming someone else is easier.

Honestly, just think like the people who control corporate entities and subsidize yourself. The first time I thought about it that way, was when corporate personhood was being passed.

Ideally, if you learn how to forage, cook, grow food for yourself and others in conjunction with using yourself as a bank (Investments/Land/Loans/Dividends/etc.) you can generate a cyclical economy based on the assets, currencies, securities, and/or equities you "own" and you can theoretically live free. :

If you take this advice I wish you luck lmao

Because that gives you freedom, granted it is more work and requires a certain perspective to do well at it
