Nah debates are useless honestly lol
Debating is highly stimulating if it’s two open minded people who don’t let their ego get in the way. The best debates are with people who want to actually learn a new perspective instead of trying to gotcha the other person. Most debates on this site are terrible for this reason however

It's a problem with most debates.
Most debates with strongly opposing views are bound to be about theatrics and rhetorical devices.
The only real use for it is to try to persuade people who are watching who may be undecided.
But other than that, it's really not much more than just entertainment lol.
what OP overlooked is that people can no longer read more than 3 sentences at once
surprised no one tldr'ed the post maybe there is hope
books are lowkey overrated
Just finished reading hells angeles and fear and loathing in Las Vegas I would say they aren’t
Trillions fr everyone including the animals and trees and all the money and cheese
Bar
nah
thoughts formed in solitude and thoughts formed in conversation are perfectly equal. Actually, if one were to have an advantage over the other, I'd sooner grant the honor to discussion...
Think about why so much of plato's work isn't written in first person, but as a hypothetical discussion between two or more people
social media can be very unhealthy for you, and I do encourage people to take frequent breaks and to constantly re-evaluate their relationship with online space.
But that's not because ideas formed through discussion are somehow less your own than ideas formed alone, its because social media f***s w ur brain's reward system and self-image.
I'm pretty sure most of us are aware of this on some level, even if its not on a conscious level. Which is why OP's post resonated with so many people. But I don't think that its fair to act like an opinion you've landed on through discussion is somehow less "yours" because you didn't come up with it sitting in a padded cell
OP interests me bc behind the first-level takeaway of "social media can be bad for ur mental health, take breaks" (which I agree with 100%) lies this weird anti-social hermit idea.
Not a single point made in OP is online specific. Think about that. Everything said about online discussion applies just as much to IRL discussion. OP isn't telling you that online discussion can be unhealthy, he's telling you that all discussion is unhealthy. That the only ideas that are really yours are ones that come out of a mental vacuum...
Sounds like a max stirner stan or something...
If you discussing things with people makes you part of a hivemind that's on you lmao
One good thing to take from this post is to go read some books, ktt mfs should definitely do some more of that
This is not true at all lol most success, progress & fleshed out ideas happen in a group or shared process.
Sure starting the idea (or "recharging") when youre by yourself can be great, but it will almost never reach its full potential if you dont eventually include & shopwork with others. This is from entertainment to inventing to politics to s*** like working out etc. Even philosophy.
Humans are literally social & only so much can be done within your own head, bias' & abilities.
It can be the starting point but more than likely wont be the finishing point. And thats ok. We strive & level up through cooperation & shared a***ysis'.
