Certainly. Religious texts form the backbone of most (all?) of the world’s great literary and cultural traditions. For example, Western literature is steeped in the stories of the Bible and of Greek mythology, many works of Japanese literature are heavily influenced by Buddhist and Shinto beliefs, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata are highly influential in Indian & Southeast Asian culture, literature, and art. The point is that reading a religious text can give you great insight into a certain culture/literary tradition (in this case, Arabic, Persian, Turkish, Urdu…) and a solid foundation to dive deeper into that culture, or at least improve your understanding of it (although, I of course must note the pervasive influence of Western literature in all contemporary literature from around the world - but this could come as an advantage, as there is a familiar package to ease the absorption of new ideas). In addition, many religious texts are great works of art in their own right; consider how powerful a poem must be for it to remembered for hundreds of years solely through memorization (without being written down) - this applies for the Vedas and the Homeric epics among others. Even if you do not practice the faith yourself, there is no reason not to understand it, while reading what is also usually a masterpiece of a certain culture.
Yeah, I read a passage from the Bible every time I’m on the toilet.
Usually recite it aloud a few times as well.
