I mean I’m not saying don’t listen to new music, but like it’s harder to relate to like younger artists sometimes like lil mosey tecca or lil thay

    Oh definitely.

I'm not gonna pretend I'm really feeling it like maybe I would if I was younger. As you get older you've got more important s*** to become emotionally attached to than a new album, but you can still appreciate it more objectively.

It used to be a stigma, like tf I look listening to a guy named Ski Mask The Slump God? Glad to be wrong there

  • Oct 20, 2020

feel like i’ll probably be like this. i find it hard rn at 21 listening to new albums

It will happen to everyone eventually,

i remember checking for new mixtapes on blog sites and soundcloud every damn day during late HS and early college. Fast forward to my age 26 now i just don't feel the same interest to invest my valuable time going deep in new music like that compared to before unless what i discover is really fire.

  • Oct 20, 2020

hard not to when you're 26.

  • Oct 20, 2020

    Nope

  • yes. i love JAY Z, such an intelligent young man. listen to 4:44. i was still playing gta at 50 but look at him he's a billionare

  • Oct 20, 2020

    I mean:

    1. the ones u named are generic as f***
    2. I’m getting old af so why should I care
    3. There’s allot more diverse talent than the ones u mentioned.

Rap is at its most diverse & will become more so as time goes on.
Don’t mean to come off as a d*** with the way I typed this 😂 but ya lil tecca just sounds like he’s for kids

  • Oct 20, 2020

Ya but I’m having a hard time naming any. Probably cuz idc about people’s ages and most newer rappers at least are garbage

Yup most kinda suck ass imo but there are a few I keep going back to.

Weird as hell how you hit 24 and all of a sudden there's so many younger artists out making f***ing bank

Tbh I don't think they are making bank, say you got a popping artist that's 18 and just signed a deal for a mill. Now he's locked in a contract for at least multiple albums so couple of years, then if he's still hot he can keep the ball rolling if not he's kinda done for. He has basically no back up plans and unless he saved his money and didn't spend it on chains clubs and cars he would be in good shape. Now look at an educated person who graduates from masters at 23 in something useful, he starts making 6 figures a year and only goes up from there. I would argue those people would end up making more. A easy way to see this is that music recording market size is 21B say double that with concerts. Bro the phone case industry is worth 25B. F***ing phone case, do you see how small the music industry is.

Most artist aren't that rich, like come on how rich do you think bryson tiller or freddie gibbs or mac miller or pnd or... is? Like tbh they prob worth 3 mill or smth. Like that's rich but those are household names in music. Not saying that's little but youre not in the music business for the money

what kind of question is this

    I was joking.

I understand the sentiment but I just enjoy music too much, I like to hear what's new. I don't clout chase and listen to stuff cause it gets good reviews I just check new stuff out pretty frequently and there's always songs I love.

Eh imma graduate at 24 projected to make 36-45k a year before deciding on getting a masters. After that I'll be at 75k a year unless I just do buisness then idk what market a***ysts make

I gotta admit most of em gotta be doing way better than me especially if they invest properly

I agree many are dumbasses and waste money but even my buddy who double majored (Chinese and supply chain man.) only makes like 75k a year. That's not touching famous rapper money if they're smart with it
