Putting Kodak on an album doesnt mean theyre besties though. Making art about and for flawed people, with the input of flawed people, is honesty

Meanwhile Drake is ALLL “Me and Baka this, Me and Baka that, we just popped bottles” nothing but championing that man

Saying you think men who treat women badly should die directly after parading an abuser around on your prior album and at concerts with the ideal of understanding flawed people isn’t contradictory no?

On paper you’re right but Drake is super annoying so I get it

There’s also 1000 other lines from Kendrick to work with so it’s all good

    But again

Is Kendrick putting someone on album the same as Drake having Baka as his shoulder-piece? This super semantic character a***ysis is a bit nerdy and parasocial for a rap beef, Im outta here!

    black hedi slimane

ppl bring up the kodak thing like its a check mate as if kendrick had a lead single with the nigga for some sort of street cred

he's on the album to talk about the cycles of violence that people endure that end up causing them to perpetuate that same violence done upon/witnessed by them at young ages

you think hes on the record despite his violent behavior but its very much because of such violence and his honesty surrounding his behavior

having him on the record isnt an excuse as much as its an examination of how this violence begins.

whether or not you want to decide if its worth having a rapist on an album is up to you, but to diminish the value of these kind of nuanced conversations is shirt sighted. i'm sure the victims would say f*** that, and ofc thats their right.

but if we're going to begin to fix the prison industrial complex in america, the we must have tough conversations on where violence/ self hatred begins and how to finally end it. it doesnt happen by locking away people and turning our gaze away from the ugliest parts of ourselves/our community

The unfortunate part is that they don’t even care about the actual trauma and horror that Black Americans have been through for their upbringings, they’re just using it as a tool to criticize Kendrick

It’s partially the reason why they love Drake so much, Drake paints a fantasy that they can escape into and the maximum amount of self-reflection that he does is crying over the latest IG model fling he pumped and dumped, he doesn’t touch on aspects of black culture in his music at all unless he can exploit it for his dime

Why do you think they mock TPAB and Morale on here? It has very little to do with the actual music on it when they cry about it, it has to do with their inability to connect and empathize with the content of the music because most of them aren’t black, let alone POC half of the time

Like bro okay you called drake out sure man fair, but then you go on stage with all the biggest gang bangers in LA like…….. aren’t they… yknow… worse…? Idk but Kendrick never claimed moral god he claimed conscious god so Idk

He was on stage with artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs that happen to be from certain environment, many of them are from areas at war with each other.. and they were able to have a peaceful performance and celebrate their culture and city.

It wasn't a gang brawl. They didnt pull a Nas and try to hang a Drake doll. Nobody got poked up like the VIbe awards. And not everyone on that stage were in a gang.

I think yall also fail to realize this is actually the point we are agreeing with lmao.

Most artists (and listeners) don’t care about ethics in Hip-Hop and either consume, support, or associate with plenty of non-ethical people.

Kendrick getting hailed as Rap MLK and then when you look at his actions he’s consistently hypocritical and if anything shows he don’t give a f*** on the stances he calls out for personal gain. Bringing out an abuser to introduce a song about men who are predators to women is the cherry on the cake.

Him and his fans use moral ethics then actually don’t apply them to anything theirselves lmao. So why is it understandable Drake gets called out for faking a persona but Kendrick not actually caring about abusers and creepy men in the industry after that being the center of his image this beef suddenly not worth discussion?

Growing up in ass conditions doesnt absolve anybody from their wrongs, but when you’re using whataboutism to defend another deviant, the correct comparisons and assessments should at least be made
