Super Slimey has some of the Laziest Thug performances OAT, he was so complacent around that era and I think that’s why he went crazy with that Southside tape right after that never dropped
@op youre kinda right in a sense though imo, I just made a post about this in the thug thread, Thug managing a release schedule where everyone else has to drop before him(if he ends up even dropping in that cycle) isn’t doing him favors

Like if Gunna and Keed haven’t dropped an album then we’re not getting anything from Thug until they do, been that way since “Oh Okay”

I really like Super Slimey, it's a tight, concise and punchy offering from two artists who usually oversaturate

But yeah, that release schedule the YSL label is working under nowadays is so frustrating, it should almost be the opposite, and have Thug drop first

By the time we get round until it's his turn, he'll have changed Punk so many times it'll be a wholly different vision from what he initially intended it to be

    Kdogone

KTT cried for years about Thugga not selling and when he finally breaks through they turn into hipsters, downplay the project and become the “I liked him more before he became mainstream” guy

typical cycle this why artists shouldn’t care about fans too much

Even though i don't agree, this argument is laid out well and I understand why people would think that way. More YSL Thug clones mean less Thug solo output and we're clearly seeing that in 2017-2021 compared to 2013-2017.

    Compared to: SS1/SS2/SS3 , Barter 6, Jeffery, BTG -

SMF is "playing it safe" - but the key word is here is compared. The most artistic next step in an artist's career isn't always a divergence in sound. On SMF we see all of Thug's friends show up over his most radio friendly songs ever - but we still see the artistic side of S***that we love - this time from an older, wiser Thug.

On "Jumped Out The Window" Thug revisits signature manic flows he created back in 2013, but this time the delivery is refined, showing his chops he's gained along the way. Thug has always been known for his vivid imagery, but the bars here seem more pronounced and real than ever.

Thug's storytelling on on "Just How It Is" shows that radio friendly and artfulness can co-exist. The beat is a great exercise in minimalism, showing his experience. This track is one of the many times we see the "older, wiser" Thug persona on the album.

Thug's journey with YSL is art in and of itself.

Lol I hear what you saying bruh but Thug been around for awhile. The fact he still makes good music shows he still has the talent

I think he’s reaping the benefits of adjusting his style to mainstream audiences. Niggas forget there was a time nobody could understand what he was saying on songs. People saying he sounded like Courage the Cowardly Dog lmao he “dumbed it down to double his dollars” imo but it worked. I don’t really advocate for that but when it works it works. Its always good for niggas to switch it up a bit. He still makes bangers

1017 Thug dropped in 2012 bruh he’s been in the game damn near a decade which is crazy considering what he sounded like initially. He’ll make another project that’ll sound like more of a return to form. Whenever he goes left again it’ll be much more appreciated

I respect your take and agree with your evidence

It's really funny to me how much this site focus on sales, and how much of a meme it was on KTT that Barter 6 didn't sell a lot but now that Thug decided to take his music to a new level commercially its a problem.
