Tory Lanez
Yeah it's rappers who sing but Tory is the biggest one and he ain't even done 100k yet or has a major hit.
Until someone is actually successful with your style I don't think I can call you an influence.
Gucci,Future,Thug,Keef, Wayne and Ye all have Niggas damn near hitting they styles and looks even now.
The autotune, fashion, dreads,Trap, art talk it's all from them.
Every newcoming rapper from 2013 to 2016 mentioned gucci as a top 3 influence but maybe they were just saying it
Makonnen said guwop was his biggest influence but his old tweets showed he was hating on him
1) Thug
2) Cudi
Name one project that was groundbreaking.. for me take care was his last solid project he had that emotional but not over a woman sound he should have ran with s*** was good tbh
I actually liked take care he should have kept that energy the collab with Weeknd he seems to be carving out his own sound then the nothing was the same also rolled off nicely then it all went horribly wrong

Whether you like him or not, I think it's quite dumb to say Drake didn't influence an entire wave of melodic rappers and rappers that are more open to exposing themselves emotionally.

Name em
Soulja and Future should also be in the convo imo
I would put Soulja beyond Hip Hop as an influence tbh. He was the first person to use tags and #' s to promote his music across platforms
There wouldn't be Bieber,Shawn Mendes or anything without him.
The viral video and dance culture on the internet was literally invented by him.
He gets 0 credit for the fact he was the inventor of the modern business moves online.
1) Thug
2) Cudi
I want Cudi on this list so bad but something's holding me back idk

Cudi birthed Xtension tbh

Facts dude was a pioneer with the dance wave and promo I can respect it
Logic probably takes an hour each day to study drake

I'm just kidding stay but was not expecting that one mate lol

He didn't start the wave had already started infact the cover he did for the freshman class he was apart of was based around the fact Hip Hop had changed.
This may be an age thing but Drake wasn't considered the starter on that he was APART of the wave That came post 808s.
He just got the biggest out of the group but that doesn't designate him the wave starter or influence.
He was a result of Ye off 808s
I'm just kidding stay but was not expecting that one mate lol
Lmao he tried to go 100% drake clone until kendrick and cole success proved he didn’t have to
Logic probably takes an hour each day to study drake
Logic is a chameleon just like Tory. They both just copy whatever is popping
Logic copies Eminem, Kendrick, Drake, Cole, etc
Tory copies Wayne, The Weeknd, Drake, Kendrick, etc

And he influenced all of his contemporaries from the Ye’s to the Qs to the whole genre of Hip Hop. He created a flow and way of melodic singing and rapping on beat that is the defining sound of the 2010s
So many people will sit here and deny it but Hip Hop is chronological. We can find every post by every one of these guys that gave it up to Drake and unless you were there when we saw Drake drop and the wave of rappers that started using diff flows and formats is massive. I wanna fullly make a fleshed out post on this and love to have an objective discussion
not sure abt that one lol
He has cited Cudi as his idol and influence, also the song LSD is heavily influenced by him
