You're just making things up I didn't say now lol. I've been pretty clear on what I've said.

You said he caused it: it was planned choreography in which both artists gave their consent to happen, the nipple revealing was a wardrobe malfunction

You said he let her suffer: she personally asked him not to speak about it, said that her issue was with CBS, and said that her and Timberlake remain friends to this day

The entire situation is a nothingburger that was only a huge issue in 2004 because of puritanical ideals that existed in the mainstream zeitgeist at the time. If something like that happened today it would be a meme on Twitter for 48 hours and everyone would forget about it and move on

they were still friends after the incident and through everyone talking down on her

people getting offended for Janet towards Justin when her only issue is with CBS out of her own mouth

Just another example of people infantilizing a grown ass woman lmao

Not sure why you keep acting like saying no to Janet is some world ending event lmao.

Also she said "If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.” for the sake of him not having drama in his career. This is different from "don't say anything".

If you guys are fine staying silent, building up your career while your "friend" suffers then fair enough, I'd speak up and try to help.

    Yes he said nothing.

He let her suffer by not putting out a statement and watching her career suffer. Her saying "If I were you, I wouldn’t say anything.” does not mean we should be okay with his decision to not say anything.

You keep saying nothingburger but that doesn't make it true, it was a big deal and we are still discussing it many years later. And again her career suffered while his thrived.

You do realize that absolutely nothing would have changed even if he did say something, right? She was (wrongfully) blackballed by the industry, a Justin Timberlake statement isn’t stopping that. He’s a pop singer, not a studio head.

And it’s a nothingburger because it was a completely inconsequential incident that was blown out of proportion solely because of the conservative values of mainstream American culture at the time. You can’t tell me that in your heart of hearts you actually care about the fact that Janet Jackson’s breast was briefly revealed on national television. You care about the reaction and backlash to it. Which again, would not exist if it happened today.

It’s similar to the Obama tan suit controversy

There's absolutely no way you or I can know this because the reality is he made no attempt.

You literally just said she got blackballed, how can it be inconsequential lol?

And sure, not that it happened but I care how it happened, that he done nothing about it and about the backlash but that doesn't change the outcome, it was very consequential for both of their careers and was certainly not a nothingburger, quite a pivot moment in pop history.

    Terrible a***ogy.

It’s not a terrible a***ogy, in the grand scheme of things a waldrobe malfunction is not that big of a deal, same with a tan suit. The ONLY reason it got the backlash it did is because of mainstream society’s values at the time. The actual incident itself is a nothingburger.

The backlash & resulting blackballing was 100% the fault of racist & sexist studio heads at the time, which is why Janet said that her beef was with CBS. You keep tryna blame Justin for something that is not his doing at all.

It is terrible because the tan suit didn't affect Obama's career in the slightest.

What you're doing is judging a film by it's synopsis and not by what happened in its entire plot. We just went over how consequential it was for both of their careers but you maintain it being a nothingburger.

Again I've been very clear in my words, I blame him for doing or saying nothing and letting his so called friend's career suffer while his thrived. And you are the same guy who implied a white popstar shouldn't be talking about black issues when he benefits from racism.

It’s not terrible because the tan suit thing was still a major controversy when it happened, obviously the President of the United States wasn’t going to be blackballed by anyone because of it

Doesn’t change the fact that it was still a stupid controversy based around an inconsequential event.

What happened in this film’s plot is directly the fault of studio heads, not Justin Timberlake. Why do you think Janet said her beef was with CBS?

And yes, I absolutely do not care what the f*** a white popstar has to say about black issues. Making a specific type of music does not give you an authority pass in the social issues of that genre’s demographics. Anyone that wants white people to be speaking about black problems is a complete idiot
