I just picked up the dispossessed a couple months back. Really want to read it!
Stoner! I need to re-read that one sometime soon but I'll probably read a different John Williams book next year.
need to read that Omar El Akkad book
I liked, didn't love, Small Things Like These. Did you watch the film? never got around to it myself.
nah haven't watched the film yet. I prefer reading but I might get around to it. I do like the actor who's in it, I forget his name now tho lol
now that I just finished it, I'm adding The Jakarta Method to my list. maybe book of the year for me.
Didn't read as much as usual this year. Been a rough year and I've been escaping a bit too much with video games (and beer) but my top 5 in no order
Susanna Clarke - Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell
Claire Keegan - Foster
Mathew Desmond - Poverty in America
Mariana Enriquiez - Our Share of Night
Cormac McCarthy - The Road
now that I just finished it, I'm adding The Jakarta Method to my list. maybe book of the year for me.
oh and I'm adding Things Fall Apart
these sound good just off the title alone
they were all great, i especially enjoyed new orleans noir. it’s a part of a series by akashic books, they have a lot of noir compilations set in cities/states/countries all over the world. so far the inly other one i’ve read is las vegas noir, which also wasn’t bad. next on my list is atlanta noir and mississippi noir.
I had a space thing so i read the right stuff (which is fantastic) and man on the moon by andrew chaikin. I also read a rebel life by mary gabriel about madonna (awesome book, what a life)
Fiction i read some em forster some evelyn waugh, stoner and also remains of the day which was wonderful
I read a few film and music books too...easy riders raging bulls by peter biskind, the big goodbye about the movie chinatown, rip it up and start again by simon reynolds about post punk.
And a couple books about my business.
Still working through power broker...
