Oh yeah that’s dumb. I would argue that Real hip hop is what ever is current as the sound changes constantly.
But to play devils advocate I guess real hip hop could be defined as the original form/style of the genre created by the grand masters who sampled disco records.
People also forget that hip hop is not just music. It’s a term that includes graffiti, music, style and breakdancing.

There’s never been a musical genre as impactful as hip hop.
There has never been a musical genre that provides a glimpse into a lifestyle and culture like hip hop.

Fair. I just don’t like using the term mixtape anymore. I find it a cop out when discussing a project. It’s almost like we shouldn’t judge it on the same level as a body of work because it’s a mixtape even though it require the same creative process. This could be a concept album 🤷🏽♂️ Overall dope project
