Bruce has been considered rock music since Born to Run
Guys like Waylon and Bobby Bare always straddled the line between country, folk and rock the same way Zach does so I see what he's saying

Didn't submit to the Grammys? Real fella alert.
Then maybe he should branch out and make different genres of music…
he's already got plenty of that honestly. I'd also say his debut is much more folk than country. some of his music has definitely got that thing where it's only really country because he sings with an accent
its kinda funny because I've seen a lot of country fans online claim he's not even country at all and just a folk artist
I don't really see Morgan wallen as pure country though
To me I would apply that label moreso to Zach than Morgan wallen
Like Morgan wallen is country pop/bro country and Zach Bryan is more traditional country to me
yeah
zach is more like alt country and also folk i'd say. I might say he's a little bit more country than Morgan Wallen but honestly it's pretty close, I think theyre both crossover country artists coming from opposite sides

When I think of country music my mind goes to something closer to what Zach Bryan makes
Not really Morgan wallen which often just sounds 2010s pop music but with a guitar and a southern accent
I agree both incorporate elements from other genres but I'd consider the genres/elements Zach incorporates closer to what I'd consider to be traditional country stuff

yeah thats true but sometimes Morgan does make songs that are much more country than basically any of Zachs
and he also just has a more stereotypical country singer accent too

That does sound closer to normal country music but idk to me it's so glossy and like bubblegum-ey still
Like when I think of country I think of something closer to this
I’ll never understand what’s wrong with being considered the genre you are a part of. I think it’s implied you’re a songwriter but idk

well yeah but this is also his kinda parody song of that typical country style

I also dislike it
But it still sounds more authentic to what I imagine country as even as a parody

Wallen's most country songs are more like the 90s-2000s mainstream style of country. like tim mcgraw and stuff like that. it is still glossy and very poppy and a lot of the purists would say its not "real country" but its still super recognizable sound and sounds very country to most people (again largely just due to accent)

I think my brain skips over the 90s-2000s stuff because I hated growing up having to hear it lol
Is this like when people say they don’t wanna be considered rappers but they rap?
Seems like no one wants to be a prisoner to genre labels these days...smh!
Luke Bryan is full of s***
The genre darlings don't even claim it right, but yonce did have a point to prove with that album
Was that a dig at Beyoncé? First person I thought of was post
Idk anything about Zach Bryan’s music really maybe a few songs but he seems like a sweet guy from interviews I’ve seen

Not a dig, just an observation on the album content + how it's been received by them country folks
