Yes, cause it's very irrelevant to include race unless it's a hate crime. For example if there was an incident involving 2 white men, you wouldnt see an article saying "man charged in the killing of a white uber eats driver"

like I said, you're right in this specific incident but completely wrong in a broader sense
racism is pervasive and undergirds all sorts of incidents, like I explained earlier racial narratives can absolutely play a part in the decision to target one guy over somebody else
to me this standard of "only include race when its blatantly and obviously relevant" is a dangerous one, and your "white person" example is in bad faith because you can't be racist to white people in America
