I believe If minimum wage kept up with inflation in your country it would be around $20 right now but sure make fun of people for not being able to survive off the money they make from their job

$20/hr for a single person is a good salary in most of the us

Where do y’all live where 20/hr isn’t enough? What are y’all buying?

I remember I was balling when I made 21/hr living with just one roommate

Eating out twice a day everyday, was able to buy a vacation, etc.

I’m curious who’s making 20/hr and it’s not enough? Please share why it’s not enough

  • Sep 16, 2020

$20/ hr isn’t much but just live within your means, it’s doable. I guarantee there’s a lot of people who spend their money on stupid s***. Cut back on those streaming subscriptions, stop eating out, find a roommate etc. Honestly just make sure all your necessary bills are covered and save as much as you can.

Even if you you make $25hr or $30hr, if you let lifestyle inflation creep up on you then you’re always gonna feel like you’re not making enough.

Also, I’m sure a lot people don’t have an emergency fund of any sort. That’s what y’all need to focus on. Once you get that, you worry a lot less about money. Trust me.

$20 an hour starting out isn’t bad. I guarantee most places that start out like that top out around $28 which is livable. Don’t expect to walk in making $30 or 40

It's decent in, like, Oklahoma where gas is $1.75 and you can buy an average house for $130,000. In a place that's actually fun to live, however, it's nothing.

how you 30+ with a partner/kids still working minimum wage lmao my point is that people want even more what is the standard for it to be enough? 25? 30?

from a sociology perspective this seems to be more about not letting people fail. if you are always getting paid 20+ unless you make a major f*** up, you're set

It happens trust me. Everyone isn’t willing to put in the mental work or physical labor to get more money.

Depends on your city. I’m in San Diego and 20 an hour is a 380 square foot flat or loft.

  • Squilliam

wage is relative to the cost of living in your area so a dollar amount per hour is actually not as useful as it seems

    The number is irrelevant

    Okay that makes sense

  • Social media always flexing..most people make under 40k anyways.

Someone making 20 an hour in the south is living great if you are in a second tier city (memphis, Raleigh, charleston..etc)

  • Sep 17, 2020

    I’d be ok with 20/hr
