I feel like before then it was kind of an arms race among the good rap artists to make the dopest most creative album mfs could muster. Then s*** like MBDTF, GKMC, Yeezus, and TPAB dropped and mfs just collectively went "we can't top this s***, lets just make trap, pop rap, and dusty coke rap" and critics all collectively went "nothing will ever be better than this, everything is a 5/10"
Idk man Im at work, its early, and rap is boooring rn
trap was still being made a crazy ton in this era and what made trap get more popular was people liked it and it got innovated on and expanded in scope like crazy! u can attribute that to chief keef, thug, future, gucci, cloud rap etc those people werent listening to any of these like that
nor do everyone think those r the best albums thats only true on the internet and of critics
gkmc mbdtf are all full of pop rap dawg the 2010s were the peak of pop rap how many big seans are coming out today
dusty coke rap existed for all of hip hop history and griselda and drumless emerged way later in popularity like 2019
The talking down on trap music is whats crazy to me lol like you deadass dont think a good amount of people would way rather listen to almighty so than yeezus?
It’s okay to be full of s*** sometimes is what’s missing here
idk Amy Winehouse is one of my favorites and I dont talk like a stinky British person
idk Amy Winehouse is one of my favorites and I dont talk like a stinky British person
Yeah but are you going in interviews saying she’s your all time favorite + biggest influence?
It sounds like Drake had to go in front of the class and explain his work, and he said its uhhhhhhh like the seasons!
the one thing u cant say about the modern day i think is that creativity is lacking there is an absolute abundance of dudes making entire sub genres on their own and being out there and creative as f*** lol id call almighty so or barter 6 way more creative than yeezus in this same era yeezus built off industrial hip hop kanye'fied it and added pop rap and such, thug and sosa worked off like flocka and boosie to make huge leaps in their genre that were kinda abstract in their time
That is the most "uhhhh.....uhhhhh......" answer I've ever heard
Not really views was 100% the soundtrack to my life that year lol. It’s not the deepest concept ever but for someone like drake who is in the business of scoring our lives, it worked out pretty well if I dusse so my self
Nwts was also a loose concept that his buddy took from him for their most commercial album ever so yea idk maybe it’s not super deep thought but that nigga be having some good ideas bra
disagree. just not necessarily level of publicity and quality coinciding tho
both artists had tons of media hype

@fader we gotta explain to this kid that the concept wasn’t even executed like how Drake explained it. There are summer songs in the middle of the “winter” stretch and vice versa
You’re confusing influence and inspiration
Bob Marley inspired @valentine to make music, but doesn’t seemingly really influence the type of art he makes
So again
It’s his favorite artist of all time, I’m assuming that means he knows all his albums, songs and has specific reasons he loves his music enough to put him above other artists
But when it comes time to make your own art, All of that goes out the window and he says “I’m actually gonna spend my time making something influenced by someone else and incorporate none of the elements that make this guy my favorite”
Like am I crazy or is that not goofy as hell? My favorites are my favorites because I want to make stuff like them. As an artist, why would my favorite artist be someone my own art doesn’t resemble or draw influences from?

You are scared to talk to me in real life you b**** ass Nigga
Niggas think that so smart for hating drake but have 0 creativity irl and poor social skills then run to ktt to talk crazy
Not gonna make a stance on who’s right or wrong here but everyone else is going off what’s logical and ideal while notbrock is going off how the human brain actually works. If I’m claiming someone is my all time favorite AND they’re an influence on me, I’m realistically gonna sound like them. If I don’t sound like them after claiming both of those things at once I’m realistically being full of s***
This exactly what I’m saying
See I vividly remember black people lowkey as a whole being put off from 808s outside of the couple of big singles when I was a kid I knew I wasn’t the only one
oh we def was put off it happened again with wtt and then yeezus type was the dagger if u aint like dat album u prob wont gon like anything else ye made after that
