His core point is correct, you’re just taking his words literally.

Bernie has beat Trump in 47/50 polls in the past few years. No other candidate comes close to that. Bernie crushes in a huge swath of demographics. Bernie has won the popular vote in 3/4 of the contests so far, and is well poised to dominate on Super Tuesday. Biden's Super Tuesday preparations have literally been laughable. Trump would destroy Biden.

I didn’t say it would be ridiculous. I’m actually saying the scenario you just detailed is the only way that it happens. And it would require the Democratic Party to be pushed to the left. Even if apparently that hasn’t happened at all in the last four years.

well if virtually every candidate of the party in the upcoming election claims to support something - and the party as a whole has made it a requirement to support any nom of the party - i don’t think its outlandish to think that the entire party as a whole would then be obligated to support that idea, should any of them win the nom and then presidency (which bernie has the best chance of actually doing imo, on both fronts)

why tf do they have debates before Nevada and Iowa but not Super Tuesday?

You still trust all of these polls? What was that other poll that said 2/3 of democrats would not cast a vote for a socialist?

That’s just the democrat party, now think about moderates and undecided voters when he gets hit with a red scare slander from trump campaign. Conservatives sure as s*** not voting for Sanders over Trump.

Unless Bernie sells out, he’s not winning the presidency. DNC would rather burn it to the f***ing ground

People want to compare this to GOP and Trump but that was a totally different scenario where he was getting crazy support from voters but not the GOP. Bernie doesn’t have support from a majority of the voters or the DNC (Republicans don’t have super delegates like the DNC has either, harder to rig against a candidate. They do have some but not as many)

I'm a conservative because you say I'm a conservative? No I'm an independent that remains moderate but Democrats have continued to move farther left

The center portrayed in that graph is normal rightwing. The right on that graph is insane batshit crazy rightwing.

Pushing the party platform to the left is indeed desirable. I just don’t get why you are acting as if that hasn’t happened to some extent already.

sure maybe in some vague sense some democrats have "adopted" some of bernie's less radical ideas. but as it stands they are under no obligation to actually implement them, and even if they could it would be in their material interest not to. establishment democrats are only interested in remaining establishment democrats. any concessions they may have made to the left are purely for show

Yes. Why wouldn't I. Obama's policies would be closer to Republicans today

Because obama is a republican. Man its so crazy to look at you brainwashed people. American politics is 95% conservatives. Its just that the conservative status quo is so normal to you that you assume it isn’t rightwing.

Me either. My argument with them was that the establishment Dems had been pushed to the left for this scenario to even be in play.

i mean idk who before said it but effectively they’ve had to pay lip service and have thus backed themselves in a corner (given the candidate most likely to do it actually gets elected aka bernie,) so if that’s what you mean then yes. but i think he wouldn’t be being met with this much opposition unless the party in fact hasn’t truly moved as left as they’d like people to believe

  • Mar 2, 2020

Media wouldn’t be so threatened by Bernie if they truly thought he accomplish is campaign promises

stop thinking in absolutes... do you genuinely think that the Obama presidency was as harmful to Americans as a republican president? Is Merrick Garland as conservative as Brett Kavanaugh? The DNC is scummy and corrupt but you're crazy if you think Obama (and establishment dems) are anywhere close to Republicans on the political spectrum. I feel like most people on here are too young to remember the Obama presidency anyways

tell that to a libyan. or a syrian. or a yemeni. or iraqi.

i understand what youre getting at but its a pointless distinction to make

Not really. Dividing people into different groups based on their political beliefs is more meaningful than dividing everyone into left vs right depending on if they support private or public means of production. There are too many people on each side to just lump together, especially seeing as they may hate each other more than they hate the other side in some instances

  • Mar 2, 2020

USA politics is skewed very right, this shown that you still arguing about m4a when all western countries have it already.

In most countries bernie will be a moderate left not a "communist"

you must have missed that point. Obama foreign policy was dogshit but you seem to be forgetting the party that invaded Iraq in the first place and kowtows to Israel's every whim

Maybe not the SAME energy, but yeah he could bring that up more. But the problem about social security is Bernie is in footage saying that social security should be “restructured” so biden could call him a hypocrite. Also Biden could effectively convince most voters who aren’t blue collar that NAFTA and TPP were good things because they reduced prices and gave jobs to foreigners. On Iraq Biden could bring up that Bernie votes for Afghanistan, but obviously Iraq was a way worse decision so bernie could harp on that. I think the best thing bernie could do is break it to the people that a biden presidency will be more of the same while Bernie represents an actual difference

NAFTA is the killer for me. I’ve not heard anyone here in Ohio say a good thing about it. People in the Midwest hate free trade deals. A lot of people just say “NAFTA took away my job at GM” and they’re kind of right.

come on are you implying the democrats have ever opposed israel in any meaningful way?
and iraq was a bipartisan effort
