Yasuke is a real historical figure being the first black samurai though
Fr? Thats dope af
I need to read up on this. How an African man ended up in feudal Japan wow
Sub or dub?
Ok nah ignore what I said before I tried it some more and eventually landed on "dub" (original audio). There's still conventions in American dubbing which just make me cringe but that's the version which syncs with the lips and I actually grew to like Lakeith's delivery quite a bit eventually
Binged the whole thing, it's a bit of a clusterfuck, most of the plot only makes sense when you don't question anything, but it's fun! I enjoyed it. I like the overall vibe, the creative editing and the music is hard af.
Stopped watching as soon as i saw that f***ing robot enter the battlefield
Lmaoo same. I was like "mann wtf", f***in mechas on a show about an historic black samurai??
Doing too much for absolutely zero reason

Apparently even the subbed is voiced by a black Japanese guy
Love Lakeith and LOVE Flylo but I just was not feeling the first episode. Might try to finish it out within the next couple days but idk. Like many other people have said, I wish it didn't do all the goofy sci-fi s***, plus I really don't think Lakeith is the best person for this sort of badass hero kind of role.

Soundtrack is incredible as expected, however
Watched the first 3 episodes, I think the show is just ok so far. I find myself agreeing with some of the criticisms I’ve seen. It has too much going on, with 0 explanation. You’ve got samurai, robots, magic, mysticism, etc. Like why is there a robots in Feudal Japan? An explanation of the power/ability system would’ve been much appreciated especially since it’s so heavily prevalent.
LeSean just mixing everything he loved into one thing. Restraint is needed for a more focused piece. I hope this is a success though, so it gives other people an opportunity to create anime outside of Japan.

Was hoping there was gonna be an explanation for all that s***. I still haven't watched it yet

Yea, idm the fantasy/sci-fi/supernatural elements, they just could’ve been executed better.

Yup I feel the same, we got robots but niggas still sleeping on cots?
Yeah this kinda wack, they definitely doing way too much. They talked about how it was a historical recount of a real black samurai so why tf is there so much extra s***?
You think it'd be easy? Don't even know how they could f*** that concept up but w/e. Should tide me over.
This any good
It's f***ing amazing. Highlight anime of the season.
Intro song alone is a classic
Stopped watching as soon as i saw that f***ing robot enter the battlefield
