To me this is kinda like Neo Yokio in that I think it's sort of trashy and I understand some people will think it's weak, but I also sort of love it for its weirdness and it's fun to watch

Mech aside the animation is weak at times, netflix anime’s usually have fluid ass animation so they dropped the ball

Yasuke's background story is a little interesting (although not subtle at all and they keep going about how he's black) but the main story involving the magic girl, giant robot, transforming bear girl and the two other silly villains who also have magic powers, is not it

I watched a lot of anime that have supernatural elements but pull off a serious dark tone, this one is bad at it

It's neither fun or serious all I'm left with a seemingly dark anime with a boring generic plot, the only special thing about it is the historical lore behind Yasuke which is why people are disappointed it's not what the anime is about

Finished it, unfortunately just not very good or interesting. It definitely didn’t have to be a by the book biopic in anime form but it hardly had anything remotely close to the actual real life story of Yasuke... but besides all that with only 6 episodes it hardly gives you any time to get invested, care, or even like any of the characters here. Some characters would die and I would feel nothing at all just this 😐

Watched the first eps and was pretty disappointed. Im sad that yasuke being black is like the only interesting thing this show has going for it. Animation is alright, dialogue is weird and unnatural, The mechs are a lil too much and yasuke himself was not that interesting. Will support tho because i want other ethnicities to make their own anime

It's not as good as castle. Idk what mispots you've seen, but the fighting animation is great regardless .

The non fight scenes (70% of the show) were some c tier s***. Was almost neo yokio tier, neo yokio was funny atleast

First half was way better than the second half for me. I don't mind the randomness of the mechs and magic but the Daimyo was just an uninteresting final villain. The 4 mercenaries were much more interesting.

FlyLo killed the soundtrack though. Never thought I'd hear Thundercat on an anime opening lmao

Finished this up earlier today. The show is just mediocre overall. It has a lot of cool individual elements, but mixing them all together just didn’t work out, in 6 episodes. According to some Flylotus tweets they might be able to do more.

I think it’s a show that would’ve been better received in like mid 00s. I think your average anime has improved a lot in the last decade from back then. This was just very mid tier in today’s arena. I don’t think it was bad, just unremarkable. The most accurate criticism is that it’s mixing too many things together with no rhyme or reason. Like I love mechs, and I love were-animal powers, do I necessarily want to see them together? Not really, but if it was presented in a way that works I’d be all for it. This just wasn’t it.

Overall I’d give this a 6/10. The animation was good. Nothing particularly forward genre pushing, but it was legitimately good imo. Anyone criticizing it is just being pedantic.
