I don't think y'all realize UGK and Three 6 were inventing trap music in the early 90s lol, and unlike many trap rappers Pimp C, Bun B, and Lord Infamous had bars for days. Some of the best written songs of all time over production 10-20 years ahead of its time

Love that but the lineup of UGK, OutKast, and Three 6 Mafia at the height of their respective powers converging on that classic was just a moment. I can concede that that moment was definitely one of rap's best moments period, blowing a lot of 90s s*** out of the water. BUT, all three of those acts got their starts and arguably dropped their best s*** in the 90s

2010-2016 are right up there tbh

2017-2019 was weak but 2008-2009 was weaker

Don't forget that for as iffy as the back third of the 10s was the 10s overall gave us some game changing s***. Lyricism did decline but even then we did still have GKMC and TPAB which even the oldest of oldheads were bowing down to when they dropped. Nobody thought that kind of album was even possible anymore

I'm still putting the 90s well above the 10s and I wouldn't say if I'm being objective that the 10s were better than the 2000s but they're on a par w/ each other if we're keeping it a dime. The musical diversity from 2010-2016 in hip hop was truly a moment in history for the genre

carter 3 and recession dropped in 2008, those 2 albums are enough for me to always say 00's > 10's

I think the 90s is arguably the best decade. Once you start looking at all of the legendary artists that debuted and dropped multiple influential classics in the era, it really starts to separate itself from the rest quickly. Even if we go to R&B, the 90s might be the best era
