so when the guy from BTS says his biggest musical influence is Nas u just gonna take his word for it even though that doesn't show up in the music?
With all due respect you sound like an idiot
I think it influenced him and 40, I mean its not a bad thing lol. I dont think it was the only thing that influenced him obviously, but drake has always been a huge fan of kanye's music.

Being influenced by an artist doesn't always mean portions of that artists music have to be visible. Sometimes its just an aspiration to be a better lyricist or something. And "the guy from BTS" is just one piece of 7 person pop group so thats a much harder thing to do.
Also for Drake and SFG the influence literally does show up in the music like they weren't hiding it and there's nothing wrong with it
his argument was taking the artist at their word tho
Ik, but if what the artists is saying is supported by the music, why question it. It's different if the music doesn't support it, u can look at it funny then
You're not gonna say SFG, TML, and TC don't got the 808's blueprint. Singing over minor chord progressions and tribal drums/808s
Why are drake stans so sensitive over 808s influence on Drake
Influence≠Unoriginal
Drake did something big for rap. He was the one that started doing the whole rap/singing thing as a combo without being designated as an R&B artist. This is one of the most important things that has happened in rap in the last decade. So no maybe not 808's but other than that Drake is extremely important/influential to all these new ass dudes.
!https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sn3SUnL44w4This song has influenced almost every new song you hear, even if it's not direct influence.
You mean after Kid Cudi let him have the lane right.
You drake lovers will do anything to make it seem like he wasn’t heavily influenced by Kanye
man wtf is this thread. Drake has said time and time again that kanye is his biggest influence even after the pusha t situation. Ya'll drake stans living vicariously through this man writing paragraphs to defend him. Go outside
no one understands the reason why 808s was actually influential
its not because of the music itself, its about the context of culture
the same way college dropout came out with a different style and paved the way for conscious rap to get back to the mainstream of hip hop at that time, 808s came out with another different style, this time more rnb inspired and paved the way for getting more attention from the mainstream for hip hop
it basically popularized melodic hip hop, definitely was not the first to do it, but it was one of the biggest albums what got everyone's attention in the future. 808s got a lot of hate in the beginning but over time they started to like it more and then drake was the first new artists to go in that melodic hip hop type s*** successfully and make his own lane
i always thought early drake was a mix of grad and 808s ye tho
Pretty sure he came up with the chorus
That makes it even less of a point. This doesn't show any actual influence on Drake artistically if it's Kanye produced and an actual Kanye chorus.
Drake was always more rnb in the beginning than pop so yes 808's didn't directly influence him.
but production wise for 40 and the success of 808's opened the lane for Drake
OP is right and 808's isn't even like some original Kanye idea anyway. If Drake needs to thank Kanye for his sound then Kanye needs to be thanking Wayne for inspiring him to make 808s and T-Pain for 808s sound.
As much as Kanye mentioned it you'd think he'd be a lot more thankful towards T-Pain tbh.
