I'd actually disagree with Successful
In any case this discussion will go in circles since an artist's influence on another isn't really quantifiable
Other than when artist A comes out and says they were inspired by artist B, which is what happened here
This
and Find Your Love (produced by Ye) literally sounds like a beat made from the 808’s sessions
!https://youtu.be/-OnXVKyj2t0edit: Say What’s Real literally samples Say You Will too some of y’all are really just rewriting history
Lust for life samples Tears for fears one of the same artists Kanye sampled on 808s. 40s early drum patterns are all a knockoff of the Say You Will Drum pattern. There’s a case to be made and this is coming from a Stan of both who’s sick of Kanyes s***
op is one of the worst posters on this site
Isn’t he the dude that said he hopes Bhad baby gets raped?
Drake did something big for rap. He was the one that started doing the whole rap/singing thing as a combo without being designated as an R&B artist. This is one of the most important things that has happened in rap in the last decade. So no maybe not 808's but other than that Drake is extremely important/influential to all these new ass dudes.

Unavailable in my region what song is this

“Right, well, I think any time a rapper sings now, they're going to say that. Just like whenever a rapper uses Auto-Tune, they say that's T-Pain. I'll put it this way: Kanye West has an amazing mind, but he always has the means that when he thinks something, he can make it happen right away. But I've been singing way before 808s & Heartbreak. I wrote all the hooks on every song I've done since I did "Replacement Girl" with Trey Songz in 2006. I've been in the R&B world for a long time, writing for artists, writing for myself, playing with different sounds and stuff.
So as far as 808s goes, that was a great album, I tip my hat to Kanye for making that major release instead of making it a mixtape. But at the same time, people always need something to compare it to. The other thing is, So Far Gone is a lot different; it's real R&B music, that's why I put Omarion and Lloyd and Trey Songz on there. I'm doing duets with these guys. These are real R&B singers, and that's what I was going for. Kanye was doing something different...I don't even know how to classify it, I guess he calls it pop art”

GQ: What about "Lust for Life"?
Noah "40" Shebib: It came a little bit later when we were figuring out the direction of the album. When it started to take shape, this song just slipped into the mold. Kanye had put out that record at the time, anyway, he sampled "Tears for Fears" in it and there was this melody and Drake became crazily obsessed with this melody. "Coldest Winter!"
Exactly
It's just not a good argument to say Drake infuenced by TCD, LR, and Grad but not 808s?
Have you heard "So Far Gone" by Drake

It’s not bro you can hear the influence plus the choir in both. It’s clearly influenced
tired of this revisionist history lmfao without kanye drake wouldn't exist
This is the true revisitionist history
“Before I ever got the chance to meet him, Kanye West shaped a lot of what I do, as far as music goes, We always, always, always took the time to listen to Kanye's music and appreciate it beyond. We searched the samples and find out where his inspiration came from, because he has one of the best ears in music, period. He knows how to recognize great music that's not his. He knows how to utilize great sounds and great music. So before I met him, I had the utmost respect for Kanye West. I'd even go as far as to say he's the most influential person, as far as a musician, that I'd ever had in my life."
Why are drake stans so sensitive over 808s influence on Drake
Influence≠Unoriginal
and clearly Drake turned it into something of his own that he then influenced even more artists with
Don't get this fight at all. Its not saying Drake isn't doing his own thing still
a lotta misunderstanding about what influence means and how it takes shape in music. S*** does not always mean the end product literally sounds like what its being influenced by
This is the true revisitionist history
Drake said himself Kanye is his favorite artist and biggest influence
Drake said himself Kanye is his favorite artist and biggest influence
Doesn’t mean kanye birthed drake
Kanye didnt do s*** for drakes vocal style
He helped influence the sounds him and 40 would use though. That classic toronto sound def has some roots in 808s
