forgot about mid 90s as well, such a bad movie. jonah hill should feel ashamed for making such an uninspired movie that literally just focuses on stupid nostalgia baiting

i feel like this film studio is overrated. yes, they are definitely producing some amazing movies but there are plenty of duds as well yet some people treat them like they are the savior of cinema and literally getting tattoos lol. im also not even sure how big of a hand they play in the making of the movies that are great. what exactly do they even do besides provide funding?

They're one of the very few movie studios that take risks and also get some commercial success. I respect them for that

regarding the artistic impact they have on the films, probably none or very little. miramax had impact on the films back when they were the biggest dog in the indie biz.

they just choose what they wanna back. if they put money for the film's production they get some say, but probably very little. e.g. not showing pattinson's erect d*** in the lighthouse. a trivial thing although it would've gone well with the theme of the film.

they mostly distribute films and it's really up until recently that they've started producing/financing, usually with a bunch of other production companies.

what they offer is a good brand that is recognized tbh, which they've acquired by well curated distribution

eh if anything mid90s was good because it didn’t deepthroat 90s nostalgia down the viewers throat besides the opening scene
