JonboiI justā¦ I hate this extrapolative thinking. We donāt know that it won cause of a push for diversity. Just last year, the very safe and bland Coda won, which feels in line with the academyās MO. I think to assume itās a diversity pick is discrediting the genuine love a lot of people have for it. Why couldnāt it just be so good, that itās good enough to break the mold and shift the paradigm? Do u think Fabelmans would have won if not for those changes?

But anyways... with or without award this still like a 3/5 for me
Out of left field? It picked up momentum at the right time, and it was a safe crowd pleaser. They didnāt go with the more artistic and interesting picks, like Power of the Dog. Seems in line with how they usually operate to me.

Saying a movie won for diversity or ā payolaā is dumb as s*** . I said yes speeches matter to them , popularity, fanbases , headlines all of that . None of that determines whether I like a movie thatās why I mentioned cloud atlas and random movies that even before this ā diversity push ā yāall are discussing never won awards at all be them Oscarās or otherwise
