JonzThis movie is definitely one of those "if you know you know" experiences. So I can understand when someone doesn't fully connect with it.
However, if you are someone who has experienced existential dread, and eventually found comfort in absurdism, this film will speak to you in an unparalleled way. Watching it in the theater was a magical experience for me personally.
My biggest problem with this movie is that the crowd who called Joker āfake deepā acted like this was the second coming of Christ

Well the movie being āfake deepā is an internal problem with the movie. The reactions to it being āthe second comingā is problems that exist outside the movie but makes the internal issues even more annoying because it isā¦fake deep.

We have to be kind to each other, nothing even matters in life yet everything matters, what we have right here right now is enough, mother / daughter dynamic, etc.
None of the themes were hard to grasp or understood. I mean the third act literally spells it all out for you.

My second biggest problem with the movie is that I simply donāt think itās all that. If you cried because some rocks with googly eyes said some basic s*** about life, Iām looking at you different.

personally i wouldn't use fake deep but i am on the side of it being shallow in it's themes. which i think worked perfectly fine for it. it was a movie about straight forward ideas about universal feelings
i would say it's extremely over dressed tho. super busy and over the top for a movie that doesn't offer too much to really chew on.
