I don't want to say "you don't get it" cause I truly hate that of Rick and Morty fans but some definitely 100% took this at surface level. Not to say you have to dig deeper but they didn't just randomly assemble a bunch of scenes and many of the punchlines are for a bigger purpose

I only bring it up because y'all have brought it up since launch. lol it wasn't an inspiration as much as you think. The directors were here in Chicago for premiere.
Just being over the top and guiding a character isn't rick and morty. The Matrix inspirations are much more direct. the over the top in different dimensions is to battle the nihilism and depression of reality of death, laundry, taxes in infinite cycles without question.
