I agree but it still manages to be a perfect somehow imo. This was a perfect example of a pop record in the 2000’s,label execs probably used this album as a template for “how to make a successful pop album”.

But Thriller is also the best selling album of all time

Aaliyah sold a lot, but I don't think it's even in the top 20 best selling albums of the past 21 years

She’s great. But her unfortunate passing really overrated her music. I mean it happens all the time so I’m not suprised but cmon this is not a perfect album or close to thriller

Edit: and this isn't to take away from Aaliyah, but her passing has made people overrate her and make it seem like she was up there with Mariah and Janet and Brandy at the top of the industry when she was really in the middle. Her impact and influence exceeds her accomplishments imo, her music was ahead of its time. That sound wasn't really picked up until the early 2010s

Ok,maybe it was an out there statement but I had my reasons for comparing it to Thriller. I really can’t think of nothing else to compare it too because of Aaliyah’s one of a kind voice and Timbalands unique production.
