Everyone loves the 2016 Tribe album and FHD by Cole lol, they're canon s*** at this point. People love the traditional hip hop sound even in the mainstream. Cole just doesn't make compelling traditional-sounding hip hop most of the time.
Griselda aren't experimental and everyone loves them. Big KRIT isn't experimental and he could be the most purely talented and dopest southern rapper of the 2010s, and producer. Cole just doesn't generally make projects any near as good as Tana Talk 3, 4eva Is A Mighty Long Time, etc
Neither benny or krit are mainstream and tribe are the arguably the greatest hiphop group ever. I'm talking about the comparison yall making between Cole and Rocky acting like just cause Rocky be experimenting more he automatically better than Cole

He makes like a blend of dirty south rap and cloud rap. It's innovative but not experimental or even wholly "new" sounding

yeah he's def got a fairly eclectic sound but it's pretty straightforward, familiar stuff, just blended in unique ways. That's bread and butter hip hop though lol, De La were making psychedelic rap back when Rocky was in pampers
