Only in public accounting. Life is very chill for the most part in industry/government.
bruh my sis is in public accounting
i get a call of her crying at a gas station f***ed up on d**** some dude gave her. Turns out she quit her job and fell into this deep psychological break down which made her do some really questionable things. I hope she never goes back to it because bruh we should never be living to work to push our mind into a dark space...

S*** is no joke. You gotta be dedicated to get through it, but man are the benefits crazy if you can grind it out, especially Big 4. Can go from poor to upper middle-class in 2-3 years once you dip.
But yeah, it's definitely not for everyone. Hope your sis is doing better now but she needs to jump to industry or government ASAP because s*** does not get better in PA.
I have my Bachelors in accounting. Hated it by the time I got to semester 2 of junior year. Just finished it out cause it was too late to change lol
Tbf accounting in school is a lot different from the real stuff. I almost never use that s*** I learn in school in my current position since they'll almost always teach you whatever you need to do on the job.
But yeah f*** Intermediate Accounting/Financial Reporting

You'll be straight. Just need to pass that s*** lol. Pension and lease accounting are by far the worst parts of the class.

You had to take intermediate accounting as a non-major???
Yea
MIS major
Damn. I mean you could still use that knowledge if you decide to go into an accounting field but it's too specific outside of it
Stupid question but im guessing u have to be very proficient at math to do this? My grandpa is an accountant, but i dont know much about the field
That's real s***. Do you have any actual accounting duties or is it more finance-related work?
more finance-related
not much of the stuff i learned in school carried forward into this job lol

Yeah no doubt, that’s how it always ends up being. S*** was just miserable merging companies and s***.
I’m satisfied with the work I do now. And I always have they degree in my back pocket if I ever need it.

Hell no. You're very rarely doing more than basic math. Most of it is done on Excel and a calculator.
The important aspect in a lot of accounting careers is having good logic-based skills. Like puzzle-solving. And tolerance to do a ton of bullshit work if you're in PA.
Where my fellow accounting majors at staff accountants, auditors, tax boys, FP&A, M&A, advisory, we accept all
also for anyone looking at a possible career in accounting
F*** these classes man
I’m looking into IT Business A***yst cause I also like computer science and that job works with an accounting degree

that sounds like a great path. maybe consider IT Audit as well even though I know some folks don't like that career path
