    Drogon

pretty sure i got this s*** i get bored of s*** i like so easy.

i was pretty much raised on video games so it could because of that.

having a dopamine drip in your pocket at all times doesn't help things either

Yeah half of me knows it really makes sense that i would have adhd, but the other half is doubtful and thinks it could be other factors like this

I was meant to see a psych for this a year ago...

    safe

    Absolutely

Saw an ADHD psychologist on campus who said I had it but since he’s on campus and a psychologist not psychiatrist he can’t officially diagnose or medicate me

I’ve always known I had it regardless

Went to two different psychiatrists in America who were some of the worst ppl I’ve ever met. Absolutely awful - one told me I didn’t have it because I could count backwards from 100 in 7s and the other asked me two questions and said I had to do a $500 test that insurance wouldn’t coveR

Finally saw a psychiatrist here in NZ who was fantastic and diagnosed me in an hour and a half. I got prescribed a fairly low dose of Ritalin

It’s genuinely been life changing. In the first 5 weeks on the medication I cleared through my entire to do list which I’ve had building up for literally years. I wrote a 25,000 word policy paper, applied for about 20 internships, organized meetings etc. the difference work wise was absurd. I’m happier, I have less mood swings, I’m more sociable, my short term memory is notably better, I don’t lose things at all while medicated, life and everything I do is so much more engaging and interesting, etc

The only initial side effect was loss of appetite. I’m about 4 months into medication now and while it’s still great I’ve found it slightly less strong so I might change dosage or change medication type

Medication isn’t perfect for everyone that’s incredibly clear but for me it was genuinely life changing and if you’re at a point of considering trying it I would encourage giving it a go

    Wow that sounds fantastic

    I AM LOVE

Been there done that, and it helped me get rid of the idea that I had ADHD and further understand that it's literally all in your head. Get to the root of the cause of ADHD and you can easily get rid of it and learn to use it to your advantage. I can tell you've already made up your mind on thinking that ADHD is the excuse you use that's preventing you from achieving things in life so I don't have much more to say here tbh.

Nobody is just born with a "difficulty" to focus

    Uh yeah they are. Lmfaoo

  • Aug 22, 2020

Yea it’s wild right. It’s just like a switch to be able to focus and do s***

The appetite thing is just a minor nuisance cause I forget to eat it’s not really a big issue for me. Sleep has been absolutely fine for me if not better since starting medication. No withdrawals at all and I only take meds 5 times a week so I have weekends off

    How accurate is this?

Was diagnosed as a kid (age 9 or so) but when i got to High School i stopped going to the psychiatrist and never really treated it any further. I'm 22 now and even tho i'm not nearly as hyperactive, i have almost all of the symptoms in that healthline link... Idk, should i get checked again? seems obvious but really want to stay away from the pills did not have a good experience

  • Aug 22, 2020

I've honestly always wondered if I've had this or not
