I got control over my own demise in my car to a degree
in a plane it's entirely out of my control.
it's absolutely valid by you also, no reason to fear flying so much that you never get on a plane
just always felt the numbers thing was an oversimplification of it all
I don’t know where you live, but I know where I’m at (Southern California) the reckless and extremely selfish (and quite honestly, mentally ill) way soooo many people drive makes me see the reality of why driving is way more dangerous every day on my commute
But again, if you live in some very low population rural area, it’s probably a different story

There’s this narrative that “planes are safer than cars” because there are far more car accidents. But they aren’t counting it proportionally IMO. Of course there are more car accidents, there are more cars on the ground
Also, they aren’t counting the fatality chance in a car vs plane accident. Sure you can get in a car accident and survive. You can MAYBE get in a plane crash and survive.

I just don’t buy the whole “there are more car accidents than plane crashes so planes are technically safer” argument
Of course there are more car accidents, there are more cars on the ground! But, I can get in a car accident and have a chance of surviving. A plane crash you have a small chance, maybe, but you are more than likely dead
Also, if you have a medical emergency in a car, you can just pull over and call 911. Something happens in a plane and you are absolutely f***ed
