for me biggest correlation is the graduation bears. although idk if thats other Japanese influences really - but Akira does have a giant monster looking teddy bear.

Word. Just so you know Stronger is basically the live action version of Akira. Go watch the comparison videos

Remaster was great

Manga is super dope, Movie is nice still but doesn’t fulfill what manga does since movie came out years before the manga ended so that’s why Plot was a little rushed

Couldn’t help but compare with Evangelion

Probably better to just do this movie without angelic imagery suffocating the spectacle of it every 5 minutes

Still think EoE is better but they’re probably pretty close overall

I genuinely thought anime was dumb before seeing this and now I’ve been a fan ever since. All time favorite for that reason

Part of me wishes they made a new one to fix the flaws of the first but I know they wouldn’t capture the same vibe
