slavery is pretty much the foundation of anti-black racism in america and we haven't even received reparations for it, how the f*** are we supposed to move on from that

I'll go farther, The Trans-Atlantic slave trade is the foundation of global antiblackness and should be studied by everyone Black.

The TAST is the reason Black people are not viewed as human. I'm not sure what's not clicking w/ppl.

Do Jews ever tell their fellow Jews to simply move past the holocaust?

  • Aug 11, 2020

It's easy for Senegal and other african countries to forget about Slavery when they gave up people or unfortunately had people taken from them and in that aspect that was it. The people taken out of their country and their descendants faced the consequences of that and still are. Pretty tone deaf from Akon but nevertheless there still is a point.

However who is really dwelling on slavery tho. People acknowledge and are trying to righ the wrongs it has caused

  • Aug 11, 2020

Racism would still be there though.

He does realize what Jim Crow laws were right?

Obtuse niggas act like the US didn’t try to basically keep black people enslaved for over a century more after slavery ended

Ever since KTT learned that they could use the word obtuse outside of geometry class I see it every other day

    Don Toliver >

  • It is complete bullshit how it has to be "let go" when proper reparations haven't even been given out to those who were affected by slavery, Jim Crow, redlining/segregation, etc.

The question(s) that need to be asked to those people on that "Just gotta let it go" s*** are simply...Why? What sense does it make to let something go that significantly impacted a group of people when that group of people are still frequently treated like garbage in the country? How does that group of people just "let it go" when even after slavery was abolished they still faced discrimination and a racist system that continues to disproportionately target them? Why do black people have to be "the bigger man" and just let it go when America can't admit they did evil and has hardly even done the bare minimum in repairing the damage they caused to black people?

To put it simply, f*** Akon. Stop selling out your own f***in motherland to Chinese colonizers.

Slavery is literally the reason Black men and women are viewed as they are by society.

It's not just some U.S., regional s*** that doesn't effect Black people anywhere else.

This is a pretty great text with multiple essays on slavery (slavery and class, slavery and gender, slavery in different countries) that also has a bibliography with every essay for more reading materials. People who say this get over it s*** tend to never know s*** lol

How can you tell an ethnic group to 'get over' something.. When we haven't even gotten as much as a formal apology from the U.S.?

Akon has done a lot for Africa, but he kinda off for this one at least the phrasing

Before yall destroy Akon though I must say, I can’t fault him for feeling like this. Being an immigrant it took me a long time to understand how slavery still affects people to this day.

I don’t think he meant malice.

  • Aug 12, 2020

As a nigga from Senegal, Akon is a damn fool for saying this. The African American experience is unique and cannot be compared to anything else
