Gameplay-wise too
Control was a blast to play!
No steam is making me want to play it on PS5 but my PC set up is much better than my TV currently so Epic Game Store wins this one

I never fully connected with control but only got so far I need to get farther. Loved Alan Wake 1 though
I may really preorder a digital only game
sad this one of the few games I would love to have physically

control’s not for everyone, but there’s some powers towards the middle/late game that are definitely worth seeing it through for

I like most third person games but beginning was slightly slower and I had just gotten PS5 so was trying to play a variety

the whole time lol

the beginning is definitely the worst part of the game, it can be a little slow at times even towards the middle but i’d say it’s worth it for some of the crazy things the game shows you. The dlc is really worth playing especially if you like alan wake 1, the demos for 2 have already shown it’s gonna have pretty big tie ins.

Cover art is hard too

its terrible cause I really don't give a f*** about physicals like that but Alan Wake I bought at launch on 360 so would mean a lot to me to have a physical of this one. Same if Gears returned to its roots or splinter cell. I would just need a physical there is no other way on a game where you never thought it would happen like Socom
Why?
Spiderman and Mario release a week before. Im gnna hve to put this one in my backlog

3 different types of games but I understand waiting on a sale on this one or when you have more time. This feels like it will pair well with spider man at least. I can chill in spider man then switch to alan wake mood. Like Alan Wake a great night time play
Lmaoo this looks impossibly good, imagine they knock it out of the park and this year is like a 5 way tie for goty
I’ve never really played Alan Wake but I’ve always wanted to and this looks too good to pass up
Imma have to play the first at some point I guess
Too many games droppin tho

Narratively it can be hard to get attached to Control since it tries to throw many curveballs at you; personally it was Jesse’s powers, the eerie atmosphere, and how they geeked out with the SCP/science themes that got me completely hooked from start to finish. You can tell there was a lot of passion from the devs oozing out of this game.
I truly believe the sequel has the potential to be an all-time classic since they’re going to have a bigger budget, and the framework of the narrative opens up a lot of possibilities in terms of gameplay and environments.

Yeah my experience with the story was somewhat similar; when some events happened, I didn’t truly understand their significance and just kinda brushed it off cus I mostly wanted to enjoy the combat lol
And then when I check out theories on YouTube I’m gobsmacked since I never would’ve picked up on those narrative cues through the game alone.
The constant sense of mysteriousness is definitely part of the game’s allure though.
Never played the original but this looks pretty sweet. Control was cool
When AW2 was initially announced back in 2021, Remedy stated that you don’t have to play any of their previous games to get into this one. But playing Control should probably help you grasp more of what they’re trying to achieve with AW2.
