And negative reception is always gonna be louder at release, because of trolls and people who want to push a narrative because they hate the artist already. The people who are enjoying the music aren't the ones on social media engaging in the conversation, they're just listening. That's why I don't think Drake will ever drop an album again that is universally praised from Day 1, and it's the same reason his mixtapes/EPs are better received. He's too big now, people's opinions are swayed by everything outside of the music.
