I heard kids here in Atlanta playing Yeat albums more than WLR tbh. That s*** just a loud internet bubble.
It’s probably the defining tour of the decade tho.
I agree. Yeat definitely bigger but he doesn’t have a defining album yet imo
The only albums as of now to be considered in that discussion is it’s only 2022 though

Not one of these make the cut
thx for support @fly_05
Eternal Atake and Mr. Morale are the only two that I can see potentially ending up in my top ten in December 2029
I would say 1000 Gecs if it hadn't dropped in 2019
it encompasses the silliness of rap music which no one has really captured since lil b
not only the best choice, but the silliest
for my underground niggas:
i think the only reason ppl didnt like this album cus it was on sum mainstream s***
post-trap is a term i invented to describe music that is definitely not trap (formalist southern hip hop about selling d****) but uses the markers of trap music as touchstones for pop songwriting, commonly fusing them with other sounds and traditions as they please. the content is removed from that of trap in the same way that a colonial power is removed from the extracted cultural resources of the colonized. white boys yelling slatt &ct. These artists are not in the streets nor do they pretend as such as context for their music. I would consider travis scott, ilovemakkonen and awful records as early forerunners in the genre. proto-post-trap is stuff like the free gucci tapes, which had artists remixing gucci purely as aesthetic exercise https://www.datpiff.com/Gucci-Mane-Diplo-Presents-Free-Gucci-Best-Of-The-Cold-War-M-mixtape.158038.html
the post-[] prefix i got from the critical understanding of post rock, which is described as music "using rock instrumentation for non-rock purposes, using guitars as facilitators of timbre and textures rather than riffs and power chords".
that schema makes sense but could be itself clarified/formalized in a sense
when/how did post-trap evolve from trap
is Two-9 post trap

I single them out cuz Key was a huge figure in the development of the “Atlanta sound” that birthed post trap
And it’s weird to engage in a like occupational a***ysis
Like if Key was really in the streets, would that make him trap as opposed to post trap
actual street guys and the artsy types around them have always had a relationship that I would say is not parasitic
Which is not to spoil your framework again just do think it’s interesting how ppls material circumstances and social circles affect this s***
The mental gymnastics to paint WLR as some masterpiece blows my mind to this day

i would say it's the least effort to paint x as y in general

actually, i dont think an album has to be a masterpiece in order to be AOTD or AOTY, it has no correlation with even being the best album of that year, whatever best means to you. just the most 2020s album of the 2020s. the most definite
mr morale.
can you defend this in any way? genuinely curious why you think this will affect the game
