how many artists you think doing 500k+ in 2020?
adele, taylor swift and who else?
Only those two. Taylor knew what she was doing dropping her album before the new Billboard rules kicked in. That's why she was able to manage such a huge first week.
It won't be so easy for her the next time she drops an album.
I will say this, though. If Drake plans on using merch bundles for his album, he should announce the date for the album a month before hand, drop the merch the next week and keep adding new items as much as is needed leading up to the album release week.
He can start shipping out the orders as soon as they're ready so everything will be able to count for the album release week.
That's one way to get around it. If he drops enough items, I could see him doing 200-300K in pure sales, maybe more. Of course, it'll all depend on how many items he's able to sell out. Streaming could pull about 300-375K.
He isn't doing 500K without bundles. His units from iTunes will be even lower this time around than they were when he dropped Scorpion. He'll be lucky to pull up to 50K from iTunes alone. Do you know how many streams he would need to pull to do 500K from streams alone?
I'll give you a hint:
Dark Lane Demo Tapes pulled 269 million streams and that equated to 204K units. Even if his next album somehow managed to pull twice the number of streams that Dark Lane Demo Tapes did (which I don't see happening, especially if it's 14-16 tracks long), that adds up to 408K. Add in the iTunes sales and that's about 458K, 460K if you round it up.
Anyone thinking Drake is doing 500K without bundles either hasn't done the calculations to see that won't be possible, or is just being delusional.
Facts. I don’t think people understand that Drake would need another Gods Plan and In my feelings level songs on the album to reach those numbers again.

He'll need more than that, but I get your point.
I think 500k with 100k pure
Yep! And these are great numbers but they will hate either way.
Damn didn’t expect so many good responses you guys are awesome, I guess a side question would be do you think maybe another high charting single before the album maybe with the merch or something to get better streaming numbers?
Depends on how the rollout goes.
If he does another surprise drop I see +300k
If this gets a proper rollout, date in advance +500k
If he does Bundles 700k - 1m
Around 600k.
Bundles dont work anymore, but hes the biggest artist ITW i dont see him doing less than 550k

Couldn't he do "reverse" bundles? Only letting people buy merch after they bought a digital version of the album?
He’s coming off the hype of a handful of hits. Anything under 600k is a flop
sales numbers arent what they used to be
Y’all need to be prepared for 300+ and an album that has some good legs Hopefully
Some of these numbers unrealistic
People gonna call it bad numbers regardless
Unless he got an Adele + Gods plan smash in the tuck then maybe.

The whole point of selling enough merch units is making it count towards the album's first week. Of course, he could also sell merch as it's own separate thing before or after then.
500k+ is a good look in this climate for a studio album
The thing is that I don't even see him reaching the 500K mark without bundles.

I have a feeling a different approach will come into play in the way this album gets sold to help it sell more copies as opposed to previous albums

We'll see.

You out your mind if you think Drizzy not selling 500k. 😂 Juiceworld just moved 500 like 3 weeks ago stop it

He used bundles, genius. And it was 6 weeks ago, not 3.
