All this thread has done is expose how ignorant some of you are when it comes to numbers.
You just assume Drake is big so he "should" do X and Y numbers, completely disregarding how different things are now than they were the last time he dropped an album.
You're high on cheap d**** if you think Drake is doing as much as 500K units off streaming alone, ESPECIALLY with a much shorter album than Scorpion.
Ain’t no such thing as cheap d**** besides meth homie
Not trying to make an official thread or anything just curious what some people are thinking I can definitely see him doing a milli first week especially depending on how those Nike bundles looking could do even more...thoughts?
685k
400k
Juiceworld numbers. That would be considered a flop
Kendrick definitely doing at least 500 when he drops imo

Hopefully I was conservative. Ideally he’ll do 600-700K. But I just worry that after dropping DLDT, a bunch of features and the Khaled singles in a short period that some people aren’t checking for the album like they would be for Kendrick’s because there’s no mystery factor. If Drake does a month-long rollout I’d be inclined to think he’ll do bigger numbers. Don’t think a surprise drop will work as well due to the reasons above and COVID generally throwing things out of whack. The surprise drop worked for IYRTITL because drake had been relatively quiet since NWTS and there was already months of VFT6 hype.
Again that’s coming from a place of worrying about the negative aspects because I want drake to win lol. But as someone else said, I just want the album to slap and I’m confident it will.
Edited side note: I think it’s imperative that Drake comes out and crushes that because I feel there’s been a quiet narrative about him falling off after DLDT was robbed out of being no.1 and then Life Is Good and (probably) Laugh Now Cry Later were blocked from top spot. And the khaled singles didn’t really hit maybe as some expected. Objectively speaking his numbers are still insane but people will latch onto any narrative if they can. This probably irks me more than it would drake (who has shown he doesn’t care about bundling and all-our promos to get no.1s) lmao but I feel those achievements are important in the overall scale of a career.

I feel you
One reason I think this might sell / stream less is because I don’t get the impression he’s gonna be reaching for popular smashes like he had on scorpion + it won’t be as high volume which plays a small part maybe
This a concise NWTS type album don’t know if we can expect it to do crazy but then again who knows the stream potential for a drake album that everybody loves the flow of / isn’t bulky etc

Agreed. And it’s kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand I’d rather him not worry about making smashes and just make personal, dope music. But then on the other hand not having smashes affects sales and allows people to push narratives about drake falling off. I’m sure he’ll come through and knock it out the park
Wonder what would happen if he made it iTunes exclusive for like the first 24 hours or so.
Would that help his fw numbers or hurt them. I just don’t see people going onto iTunes and buying albums anymore when they’re already paying for streaming services.
Only realistic way to get up pure sales is to bundle.
