This s*** is so exaggerated
Album formats are still alive & there’s present-day quality albums out there if you look for it.
Y’all just love to use the term “come & go” so much it’s infected ur brains
You totally missed @op point but go off
Not a new thought but there's so many albums I listen to, save on Spotify, and then forget I have because it's impossible to organize your library well when it comes to keeping track of it all.
If you forget the album was it really worth listening to

Honestly didn’t read op just read tag line
Raw thoughts
If you forget the album was it really worth listening to
If you bought an album before streaming, you'd have more incentive to listen to it multiple times if it didn't click at first, you'd want to get the most out of your purchase
That didn't mean there weren't albums I lied to myself about enjoying as a teenager just so I didn't feel like I wasted money, but it also helped with albums that genuinely took a few listens to grow
Too much to listen to, so little time

Understandable. I work from home so I get a bit more time to sit and listen to albums while I work
Streaming didn’t ruin anything in this aspect.
If an album good I’m still going to run that s*** over and over again. If anything streaming helped GOOD albums harness staying power.

Yep definitely, we just aren't capable of remembering all the songs we like, with the amount of new songs thats showed to us on a daily basis.
Also the point about buying albums is very true too, when you you £/$10 for an album you will want to make the most out of that purchase.
Streaming lowkey saved albums
In the iTunes days singles were dominating
Now listening to full albums is way more common

Counterpoint: Streaming opened up doors for listening to more artists
During field trips in high school I knew kids who basically had some money saved up for 2 albums to buy before the trip
Now its all available and even the most reclusive and frugal individual can enjoy Big30’s debut album, King of Killabranch, available on all platforms now

Albums didn't need saving
Albums “come and go” because everything has become hyper competitive and we base our entire value of an album on being classic or trash instead of just enjoying it for what it is and letting it sit with us. I still listen to the albums I enjoy at the rate at which I did before DSPs were the primary source of music consumption
Streaming forever ruined music imo
The effect of streaming could be negated if label executives a&r’s and the musicians themselves upped their game instead of worrying about $$$, features, appearances and radio palatability over great songs

This is very true with how artists and managers are taking advantage of streaming, they just throw 20 songs out there and hope one of them sticks

Fact
The duration I listen to an album has reduced during the streaming era. Some albums don't have longevity to the point I don't even know some of the name of the songs. But I've noticed it's never the case if the album is like a 9/10 or it's from my favorite artistes
albums should come and go because new music comes out nonstop
dudes say some s*** Came and went, like dawg what are you supposed to still be playing the same album 4 months later on loop? 8 new albums and 30 singles drop every week
I'd give anything to live in an alternate universe where the internet wasn't so focused on ads and corporations making money

so much to hear but only 2 ears
