I'm appreciating the discourse this film has started despite my lack of enjoyment of it. I'll go back for a rewatch at some point but currently the more I think about it, the more cold I am on it.

Definitely feel you on this
Yes bro during love lies bleeding I was sitting next to this mouth breather who kept verbally reacting to every f***ing thing on screen it was infuriating
I feel like 1/3 movies I have a s*** crowd experience. During monkey man these women whispered through the entire movie. I have no idea what people talk about during movies. This happens a lot when they don’t stfu it’s jarring
Surprisingly civil war was crowded but not a single peep from anymore
I know the film isn’t about that but I’d really like to know what caused the civil war lol
Dictator president and authoritarian government
3rd term presidency
Disbanded the FBI
Hates the press
Sounds an awful lot like Trump
Where does this ranked among Garland's works? I can't say I'm a fan but I like some of the stuff he does
Was rly feeling it for the first half but the wheels fell off quickly for me
Hated the tone shifts and awkward humor beats
The cinema isn’t for serious watching anymore unfortunately, went to Dune 2 a couple weeks ago and these two mfers infront of me were talking the whole time and constantly standing up and leaving and then coming back. Some mfer behind me constantly coughing, other mfers on their phone the whole time. I can’t stand it
The pandemic showed us how garbage the theater usually is unless it’s empty. Much better at home with even a simple sound setup
@ChiraqPalestine @twitch gonna go for the rewatch on Thursday

Rewatch helps for sure . I think the first hour kind of all over pacing wise for me though
Bro why the fk the president just hanging in the oval office lmao
Only place he feels safe
Yea I think it may be for the best that garland hangs it up as a director
Love how he reneged on that 2 seconds afterwards. Must've seen the reaction. FML
Garland’s second best film imo
Everything was fire up until the final 5 minutes
Idk if the ending was just unseasoned or if the meaning of it flew over my head
Anyone wanna share their thoughts on the ending

So he said that to generate hype for civil war

Thought it was supposed to make you feel like you're watching something akin to a "warlord/terrorist/seal team 6 death confirmation" photo being taken
In contrast with the setting

Yeah but like the whole point was to get something more out of him for the journalists so it felt so sudden, didn’t expect it to end like that and it didn’t feel truly satisfying to me
But some jaw dropping shots that have already been burned into my brain. The younger girl crawling over those dead bodies that whole “what type of American are you?” scene was filled with tension
