Might rewatch this Thursday along side Challengers
its worth at least one rewatch. only so much new to catch honestly but still worth a rewatch
I’ll post a link ITT if it gets uploaded but the questions were basic, nothing insightful from the crowd tbh. it was some American lady asking him why the movie wasn’t political that got him heated lol
wanted to ask him about his process behind the worldbuilding & if he drew from any older dystopian scripts like Dredd / 28 Days Later but I never got handed the mic
NO ONE ASKED ABOUT 28 YEARS LATER
NO ONE ASKED ABOUT 28 YEARS LATER
some guy wasted a question asking if he’d make a prequel about the president character

LMAOOO nah please do I need to see that
Went to see this in theaters with this annoying ass date screaming whenever someone got shot. Couldn’t even process the movie with the sound of her gobbling BBQ wings in the side of my ears.
I went to a small theatre to watch this
Great movie and the audience reaction was great!

F***ing lore poisoned peeps man.
Plus I was off 2 edibles and 3 shots of titos. I had my own civil war
lmao yo
pretty shallow movie idk. the thriller sequences in the middle were cool tho
like everything garland wants to say about desensitization to violence (which is not much) is contradicted by the fact hes always indulging in gore. i dont think he wants to chastize the public either (thankfully) its just a mess. i think the movie shows the journalists' work as essential and in the process also depicts itself as essential, since garland spends the whole middle section covering different impulses and types of warfare just like the protagonists. the stuff w the most potential is how photography is a battlefield in itself, w the dc section featuring a photo-off which of course in real life has way deeper implications... weird the movie never truly tackles this angle

photo-off?
it kind of feels like a contest for the better picture
Oh okay gotcha. I thought you meant "photo op" haha
Doubt i'll ever watch this one

id say if u are into photography theory u should skip it but if u are looking for a dystopic thriller or a garland fan its an ok way to pass 1 hr and half

I think the movie does tackle the implications of photo off. Most of what you say is true though

i explained myself badly on that one but what i meant is that in real life this photographic warfare looks more like deepfakes and ai, so extreme manipulation, which this movie kinda avoids in favor of a more psychological approach
not necessarily a critique btw since its not what the movie set out to do just a little weird

The latter is the issue for me (not a garland fan). Watched his first 2 and didn't care to keep him on my radar after those.
