one of the best rappers in the game rn

This dude is nice but i completely don't get the appeal of him trying to be melodic

Like bro turn off the autotune and work with delivery, intonations, etc

you heard a nigga get molested by his aunt and seeing his friends get murked?

Show me a rapper that doesnt rap about seein his friends get murked lol

Also, it sound just like every other "emotional" rap song.

Thats why I called it same old same

There is absolutely NOTHING new or original about that song, the production, the beat and the subject matter is all old news

I can understand how new kids gravitate towards that s*** but real hiphop heads already heard it all through the likes of Pac, Common, Hov, etc

    1. The popular wave right now just isn't for you. It's okay to not like a specific movement or style and staying away from it, the wave will go away and something new will come anyway. Doesn't mean you're right in calling all the rappers unoriginal though because if you payed attention the new rappers who are doing well rn (DaBaby, Roddy, Lil Baby) are all pretty distinct from each other.

    2. If you tuning to the rap caviar playlist looking for experimentals or something outside the norms of billboard top 40 you are simply looking in the wrong place. Theres plenty of new hip hop that is great and original, it just doesn't hit the charts.

TLDR: Just look for music you will probably like instead of going to surface level stuff in a subgenre you don't even enjoy.

Dababy is great for bangers but thats it. Ive been a fan for years and tried to put yall on back on KTT1

He also already oversaturated the market. He dropped about 5 projects and god knows how many features in 2 years.

Lil Baby is nothing new or original. PLS just dont refer to the BLM song or Emotionally Scarred to try to prove me wrong

I guess you could argue that Roddy brings something new to the table but mans dropped a mid ass album with no replay value.

    Ka - Descendants of cain
    Freddie Gibbs - Alfredo
Boldy James - The Price of Tea
Westside Gunn - Pray for Paris
Run the Jewels - RTJ 4
    Blu & Exile - Miles
Boldy James - Manger on McNicholls
    Curren$y - Outrunners

All out now and none fit the description in the OP. I agree most is the same trap beats autotune redundant s***, but good music is out there and 2020 has been a great year for actual hiphop

I love most of the albums named here

    BUT

None of that s*** is anything new or original... Its that old school sound that we already grew up on.

In fact i'd say diversity is coming back
Drill wave is a nice breath of fresh air mainstream wise, Griselda and affiliates provide quality material for dusthead-oriented taste, there're also dudes like Slums etc. Really a lot of different interesting music

Not even no old head s***... these mf's really are bland. Can't put an album together for s*** compared to Kanye, Drake, Kendrick, Cole lol. They make crazy bangers here and there but where are the new school Drizzy's and Kendrick's???

@op as much as i hate to break it to ya but all the "original" type rap is in the underground and most of it aint s*** u can play around your friends

bars arent the focal point of hip hop anymore its all melodics, cadence, and most of the time flow. mainstream hip hop aint on that conscious s*** no more

once u accept that you start appreciating the new s*** more for what it is instead of comparing it to s*** its not tryna be
