Rap been getting carried by experimental artists for a while. Denzel, Jpeg, City Morgue are the only new artists that I keep up with anymore. The counterculture "mumble" s*** died a while ago and aside from some fire soundcloud loosies barely any good projects came out of that wave. Hip-Hop is just in a very boring place right now just gotta wait for the next kids to show up and rock the boat.
