It absolutely can be, but it isn't right now. Nigerian afro-beat is still doing the most but even they are aware of the power of this genre. The South Africans are forcing the world to pay attention.. They have so many ideas, but my god there's so much divisiveness with them. But attitudes seem to be changing and Amapiano seems to be running with that, this is like the first time in a while that many members of the older generation have given the thumbs up to genre that was created by the youth.

They've come up with something dope, no doubt but they'll need to clean up a lot before it really takes over. And it can, jesus christ it can.

In SA, among the house loving community. Everyone has their own idea about what is right. There's a whole section of house lovers who absolutely refuse to listen or even entertain amapiono as a genre. Same thing happened with gqom but at lease amapiano seems to have beaten that. Like I'm glad amapiano is receiving the blessings from Cassper, from Oskido, and some other old heads.

The youngsters will always do what the youngsters will but the guidance and blessings from the old heads is what really shoots a genre to the top. Amapiano is undeniable and South African house community has to lend it it's support, or it will go the same way as gqom or anything that came before it.

Ahh you mean like that, yea I totally agree. Idk about Cassper though, I'm not sure anyone considers him a gatekeeper of house imo. It was cool to see Oskido give Young Stunna props in that one short vlog of his, and then legends like Vetkuk and Mahoota making a comeback by teaming up with Mpura and JazziQ for a hit like "Ha Omrata" heart warming stuff man.

Gqom was pretty cool imo, shortlived but what came out of it was pretty stellar stuff. Babes Wodumo's Gqom Queen is still a real great album for me. The whole genre as a whole is pretty underrated but whatever, s*** happens I guess. With the sounds coming out of amapiano right now, I highly doubt we'd have a repeat. Maybe it could still fail to attain global appeal but inside and around SA? no way man, the sound is so alive and everyone is bringing new stuff to the table.

Seems like the piano/house issue has almost been resolved, as i’ve seen a lot of collaboration this past year.
Hopefully we can get a Kabza x Coffee ,or De Mthuda x Da Capo
