I'm not particularly a big fan of LotR from a story standpoint. But I'm curious to see how this works - esp in a post-GoT tv landscape. Since GoT theres an expectation for fantasy to be adult/R-rated but LotR doesn't fit that bill. So would be interesting to see what approach they take.

Quite the opposite, because GoT satisfied that carnal Desire so well for so long, it’s cliche again. Amazon would be smart to do this chastely, and with class.

At a bare minimum, yes. But this has to be more then the movies were.

All he needs to do is post the trailer and release date
LETS F***ING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
To be clear, this has no connection to the Peter Jackson films? Like is it a prequel to the novels only and could lead to a remake of the books?

God no. Mandalorian some hot trash.
The upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series at Amazon is adding 20 actors to its cast, Variety has learned.
The new additions are: Cynthia Addai-Robinson, Maxim Baldry, Ian Blackburn, Kip Chapman, Anthony Crum, Maxine Cunliffe, Trystan Gravelle, Sir Lenny Henry, Thusitha Jayasundera, Fabian McCallum, Simon Merrells, Geoff Morrell, Peter Mullan, Lloyd Owen, Augustus Prew, Peter Tait, Alex Tarrant, Leon Wadham, Benjamin Walker, and Sara Zwangobani.
The Hobbit as a novel was actually a children’s book - both jaunty and lighter in content than The LOTR and The Simarillion. Jackson took that source material and stretched it out, implementing Hollywood tropes (e.g. Legolas, Kate from Lost as the Elf, and the Dwarf love triangle) to milk a cash cow.
This show is based on stronger source material, with a serious budget.
Amazon paid $250m solely for the rights, and it’s expected the first season budget will be $100-150m. For comparison, GOT S1 had a budget of around $60m.
Damn im in
We’re gonna really see why Hollywood is far too trash and incompetent nowadays to make this
This definitely confirms they do have a title.. they’re just hiding it
Who’s gonna decipher it
