Well most LotR fans are also racist so the minute the cast was announced & not all the actors were white they promptly threw a fit and are still throwing a fit to this day.

It’s basically fanfiction loosely connected to the appendices of the LOTR novels. They don’t actually have the rights to The Silmarillion, which more in depth covers the time period they’re trying to cover.

This is a stupid ass statement. I don't agree with them and think they're being overly nitpicky but their protests have mostly revolved around the show not being accurate to the lore, the "modernization" of the themes which Tolkien was explicitly against, and certain casting decisions (like Numenoreans being Black, which I think is fine), and timeline issues.
